Having coffee, wishing I had a wood stove!
We will hopefully get the barn started by the spring and get the wood stove in that apartment, I can’t wait.
Today we need to finish spreading gravel, go into town to our storage unit and pick up the skirting for the RV to get it on before the temps hit the teens. Then start on the shorter posts for the solar rack hopefully. Also need to get the plumbing situated for the washer and dryer being delivered tomorrow. Should be interesting having the Home Depot truck out here but they insisted we couldn’t pick it up! 😂
Our son spent the weekend in our old town with his buddies, he’s on his way back right now and will pick up his girlfriend in town.
Tonight if it’s not too windy we will cook over a fire and hang out a bit before they have to work and go to school tomorrow. She’s in the RN program at the local university.
Around the first part of October I had some rock put on our road, probably around 150 cu yards. Then I had another 3 loads dumped in piles in various areas to put where I need it.
We have a small gravel pit on the property too and I use a lot of pit run to fill wash outs etc.
We enjoy cooking over a fire outside too. We have a large pile of brush and trees that we'll burn when the kids are here. It's about the size of a house so it should burn for awhile.

Having a great weekend so far.
Started a new rug..
Walked danny yesterday for 5 miles..it felt great!
Made some rice pudding for breakfast next week. I havent had it in a long time n cold dark freezing mornings in the mill with warm mushy perfecty sweet with cranberries rice puddin to start the day.
I have all day to burn it off on the now frozen pine run were on so... rice puddin!
I also made a beef pot roast with onion carrots n Yukon gold taters for lunchs..
I let the chickens out today..its supposed to start raining this afternoon but now its beautiful. So I'll be hearding chickens n turkeys later but they get some time out.
Gearing up to get the dog out for another long walk n get a few chores done.

We need to start graveling our road - the county really stalled things but now we decided we are just going to do it and they can bugger off.
Too bad we aren’t neighbors could enjoy a cookout!
Burn ban was lifted just last week, and now it’s almost too cold to be outside by a fire!

It's never too cold to be outside by a fire, silly woman! When I worked in Antarctica we cooked outside over a fire sometimes, even in winter at -65.

Working on my computer today. Replacing the motherboard, CPU and memory. I am very static conscious when working on these components. I set up a worktable on a tile floor (no carpet), work barefoot, use an anti-static electronics mat and wrist strap (which clip to the computer chasis). I don't wear rings, but my watch gets taken off while I'm working. An LED headlamp completes the setup.

And I also plug the computer into a wall outlet so everything is grounded. The problem you have there is that you really don't want your computer plugged into power, you just want the ground. Well, today I couldn't find my special grounding cord. So I had to make another one. You saw off the power prongs and leave only the grounding prong. I couldn't find my heavy duty pair of diagonal pliers to cut off the prongs (grrr!), so I used my oscillating tool. Finished it off with some electrical tape for added safety. I won't lose this one!

Elephant Butte Lake,
I love that area! We stayed there for a few months (good weather months) over several years when we were RV'ing. Truth or Consequences is a great little town. too!

Today was Church, walk dogs and not much else. I did make more black bean hummus this morning to go with my celery.

Yesterday, went to 15 mile yard sale in Louisiana with friends. Big rain, but I got some good deals as there weren't too many folks out early. My feet, socks and shoes were soaked for several hours, but so far I feel ok. Took Lysine and zinc this morning.

Proud dad moment...

My daughter just got her first job. She started at the local McDonalds this week. I know it's just McDonald's, but it'll be valuable experience. I believe she's about to have her eyes opened when it comes to discipline and perseverance, because working for McDonald's sucks, but once she gets a taste of earning her own money hopefully it will motivate her...

Today doing a service on the car ready for the long trip to get a PET scan tomorrow.
I have to fast for over 6 hours before the scan.
I think I might treat myself to an old fashioned burger with the works afterwards before I drive all
the way home.

I'll try and get some whipper snipping done today as well.
I knew I had lost strength and muscle tone but it was an absolute bear trying to start my pull start whipper snipper
and I got a blister on my "pull" hand.
We've had a stupid amount of rain which is so unusual for us.
Looks like an early break to the dry season.
Mind you, our wet seasons have been very dry and haven't behaved like true wet seasons for the last few years.
In a true "normal" wet season we get killing heat and humidity during the day and get violent short storms filled with lots of lightning in the late afternoon that will drop several inches of rain in a short amount of time.

Driving home from a long trip I’ll be passing pass my not so local gun shop. Shop’s parking light was empty and the OPEN sign was on. I parked right beside the entrance. I read the store hours that was posted on the door. They close in two minutes. I put the truck in reverse and headed on to home. Now I’m trying to rationalize a trip back tomorrow.

With the grace of God I got my whipper snipper started and managed to get three quarters of the front lawn and foot path done before I needed to stop and rest.
After I shut off the whipper snipper and had a drink of water I just didn't have the strength to get it started again.
I wore jeans and knelt on the concrete path when I tried to get the whipper snipper started and when I went inside to get changed the knee I knelt on was badly bruised.
I have never had this sort of bruising before.
It's not really sore to touch just dark purplish red.
Alarming as heck!

Good for her. Don't be surprised if she comes home smelling like french fries. Ours did, lol.

My first jobs were at a dressage stable as a groom and exercise rider week-day afternoons after school and on the weekends I worked with a timber fetcher and cut railway ties with a portable mill.
Then when I finished high school I became a cashier at a grocery store during the day and late afternoons I worked at McDonalds and then on weekends I would still cut railway ties.
The Timber fetcher also ran cattle so I got to work his mad, crazy rank grey brahman cattle on half broken horses when we weren't cutting railway ties.

Lori's first job was at McDonalds, she learned valuable skills there.

Haha you sound like my husband.
I wish I could be as cold hardy as you guys.
Didn’t realize you worked in Antarctica, that’s awesome!

My first job was an A&W Rootbeer carhop. I hated that job. Everyone needs a job that they hate for their first job. Enjoyed my next job as a typist so much more.
yep, hated mine too. Worked in a German restaurant in the mall had to wear a horrible uniform and hand out samples to people cut deli meat and cashier all for $3.50 an hour
