Probably not. I would love to, but I know it is just not possible.
We have homestead exemption, Livestream exemption and over 65 to stop our the rate on our taxes however the value of land continues to increase. Land taxes are cheap but structures are high, house, improvements…School taxes are 2x higher than county taxes. We live in a school district that I don’t know anyone there. Taught in one closest to me

It's been a rough week, the wife has had a cough and some breathing problems. Work has been busy... So we have considered having someone come in and help with the house. What we would have them do is clean the kitchen, 2 baths, sweep the hall, and vacuum the living room. If they could stay with the wife for 10 hours on 1 day a week it would really help me out. I am at a loss as to what I should plan on paying them, it would be a cash type of exchange, but I just don't know what would be reasonable? I know some people on the site clean houses and help folks, so just asking what would be reasonable?
I charge $20.0 an hour to clean a house. Sitter could not be paid that much but a place to start

Busy week at work. Lots of various stuff going on. It just never lets up. Thing I hate about that the most, I can't finish stuff that's important because of the volume of new stuff coming in that needs attention, but isn't near the priority. Whatdya do???

Stopped by a Mexican place to get some food for Cinco DeMayo. Got home with it and chowed down. Then we went out and sat on the porch for a while. Smoked a fine stoogie and had a glass of Brandy. Just chillin out the rest of the night. Busy days for next bit.

So, I caught another position at work. I'll be released from my current job on Sunday at the end of shift. Then I'll travel home. I'll begin the gig as a laborer on a gang near Glenwood Springs, Colorado a week later. I'm not sure what that gang even does yet, but it'll be better than what I'm doing now. I'm already putting bids in on other positions closer to home. I'm really hoping to catch one of those, and be within a few hours of home. I'm sick of traveling for work, and I'm getting cranky in my old age...😉

I do have senior citizen rates now. I just read about a man who lives close to me who has protested his taxes for years and always wins the protest. He suggested taking photos to show that your house has not been most updated, but rather has not been updated such as the new kitchen and bathrooms. I can do that and I am going to petition it this year. Some homes have been upgraded with granite counter tops, etc. Mine has not.

Glenwood Springs has a large pool heated from a hot springs. I have been there a couple of times. I have no idea of the current rates, but it is a great place to go. Families and older people go there. Glenwood Hot Springs Resort Pool, Lodge and Spa

Lol I'll be working from 6am til 5pm every day. I doubt I'll have any desire to do anything but eat, shower, and crash after work. The hot spring might be fun, but I'll wait until I'm on vacation to try it...

Off today!! Everyone is fed and I lived through the cat vs deer fight😮🐆🦌! Sam learned not to get in the way of pregnant Burberry! Finally having some coffee before I start laundry and some house cleaning ( I always say "some" because I never get to totally clean my own house)! Have a list a mile long🙄! Finishing my coffee first!

Congrats, I hope it all works out for you. I can't imagine the traveling, Ugh.

I got tired of travel too, know how you feel. It's interesting, something new every week but all that wears off and it becomes a grind. I took 2wks vaca one year to just stay home! Glad you got something better.

Wait, what? i though sammy the cat was no more? now he's alive? i'm still wiped out from the folk school, mind is barely functioning. 😵‍💫

Not a lot accomplished today. A few dishes. Went back up to the shop and made some more mental notes. I haven't touched the shop in a few years. Great nephew had use of the farm/buildings. Nothing is where it's supposed to be, tools missing.

Anyway, I'm gonna need the shop this summer. Maybe it'll be usable by memorial day, take a week to get the junk and trash out.

My problem is that I get distracted in the shop. Like this, my old hydrogen cell, found it today, wonder if I can get it running again? I think I paid $80 a foot for the clear acrylic pipe, has 8 pairs of cathodes/anodes.... But I have enough projects already! Got to stay focused! lol, hard to do. 😁

I did get all the potatoes planted today, and that took awhile. Husband came out to the porch for fresh air and fell asleep in the rocker. I bought 4 of the pop over greenhouses from Aldi at the start of last fall when they were clearing them out. They are about 4 ft by 5 ft. I got one put together and instead of the heavy plastic, I put netting on it and will use them to cover the plantings of the brocolli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, and cabbage that I need to get in ground. Hopefully they'll keep the "white butterflies" away. I have 22 of them ready to go in ground. Red cabbage not quite ready yet

@Peanut The travel interferes with everything, doesn't it? Friends, family, and romantic relationships all end up getting neglected. I recently ended things with a lady I had been seeing for 8 months, because of the travel. She complained that I never wanted to go anywhere, never wanted to get a hotel and get away for a weekend. I said, "I live in hotels for at least 17 days a month. Coming home and sleeping in my own damn bed is like a vacation to me!" She couldn't understand that, I guess...

feeling a bit stressed....one more week to go visit daughter and I am in no way caught up. We wanted to make it a little easier for son to take care of the animals but it just didn't happen because of the weather mostly. Well, at least no more pregnant animals and there is plenty of grass in the pastures. I suppose this year we clean out the barn from winter in June.

Planted the tomatoes yesterday, spaced them out better this year , I tend to forget how huge they get sometimes when I plant them.
Gave most of the goat kids their first CDT shot and banded a few boys. They were not happy. The lambs just move on and act like they don't care, the goat kids scream their heads off . poor things ( but they are ok in a short while). Ran out of vaccine so I need to get more. There is always something I am running out of

We still haven't put the stuff away from shopping except the cold stuff.

watching the King's Coronation.
I am scratching my head wondering if you are kidding or serious, if serious, not meaning to offend. It's just a weird thing for me to think of a country that still has a king and people are exited about it. Can't relate. I think most Americans would like most if not all of our politicians to be shot off in a rocket to Mars or something .....

What planting zone are you in? We are in 5b but our potatoes are already a few inches high. I planted them end of March. My brocolli and other assorted greens are in the ground already also. I think the only thing I have left to go out is the peppers. Plus have to put seeds in the ground for zuccini and beans. I think we will do that today.

I know, I know. I'm in 6b and my potatoes and greens should of been out long ago. But between my mom and the broken leg, then the heart attack, then moving her two bedroom apartment out completely, then husband being sick and the dog dying...oh and the twins and their garbage all at the same time. On the brighter side, I did seed everything myself in pots months ago. I don't put the squash or tomatoes or peppers out till after mother's day. They are all growing fine in the greenhouse.

So sorry you have to deal with all that. I was just wondering if you usually plant that late ( because of weather). Our weather here is SO changeable from year to year, you never know what it will do. I just cover everything up with old blankets when it freezes, and feed bags, and old hay, whatever we have. It mostly works

The weather can be unpredictable here, this will be my third garden here. What I've noticed is that all amish women have gardens even if they don't like gardening. They put tomatoes, peppers out way too early (3 weeks ago) and then cover them with a milk or vinegar jug that they've cut the bottom out of . They still do freeze, like last week. Two of my neighbors lost all of their plants. Most do cabbage and peas as their only early grow, and the rest is the warm weather stuff like tomatoes, peppers, corn, zucchini...which they all pull out and dig their garden up to look like nice dirt usually the first of August. I don't much care if things are out too early or not, as long as they're growing in pots in the greenhouse. But next on my list is the cool weather plants, and also seeding 4 stocktanks for greenbeans. And then seeding the mammoth head sunflowers around the garden, and seeding for giant kale and spinach. (way late, too, I know).
We have a chicken luncheon at the grade school today, so little granddaughter and I will go to that. They raised meat chickens this year, 100 of them, and then a couple parents butchered them this last week. The meal is by donation, and the money from the lunch will go to purchase some animal for next year. Last year's luncheon donations bought two pigs and money for the pig enclosure, so those are now sausage and that is for sale, too.

Sorry I missed this! You need a sitter who will do some housework while there. Sitters here start at 20 an hour, usually more if work is involved. When I clean I am very fast, very thorough, I charge by the job, not by the hour. There are companies out there that do what you are looking for!

the King and Queen are not politicians.
