This might sound crazy (well you already know I am right ? 🤪) but moving can be a really good thing. When we moved off the mountain, we had a huge yard sale up there, then donated most of the left-overs. We got here and ended up having another huge yard sale then donated left-overs. It's difficult to go through and make decision after decision about what to keep and what goes, but a couple of things result. Things that belonged to others went to them (had stuff of my kids' and of my folks'). Had to declare that we are not a storage unit. What we kept was the best quality "stuff" so our belongings are now of better overall condition and value. And, those decisions are now done and are no longer on my shoulders &/or won't be passed off to others when our time comes. That alone is a huge relief. So it can look daunting, but it can be a real blessing. 😊
I probably need a Pack Rats Anonymous group. it's hard to let go voluntarily, but it if it burned to ground and the wife and pets were ok, I could start over without looking back. Somewhere in there is the middle ground. This may be where I finally find it.

I did almost stop buying at yard sales, now their stuff has to BETTER than what I have :)

The "clear the clutter" is a bunch of 💩 . Does it bring you Joy? Frankly , plumbing, electrical, first aid, stop the bleed, etc don't bring me joy until I NEED them at 2 am.

I think LadyLocust is volunteering to help you move!!🤔😉

I signed up for a wellness center membership yesterday and doing the follow ups today. I cant' use it until they get the paper back from the Doc. I called the Doc's office and lit a fire under them to get it returned.

I'm ready to get some strength training going!

Got my okeedokee back from the doc to workout, so Monday I have a meet with the trainer that works there to hopefully come up with plan. and show me how to properly use the equipment.

Wahoo! Go Curm!
(I'm actually very happy for you and grateful that you are here to harass 😊 )

Cool looking dog. Funny, it looks like the drawing at a chinese restaurant in town of a pig. The menu has little red pigs on the pork dishes that look like it. It does sort of look like a pig, except the tail... Still, if my dog looked like that I wouldn't take it to a bbq restaurant. Not in this part of the south... 🤣
It was a representation of a pregnant dog apparently. The pregnant dog statues were common with the indigenous people that made them. Still not sure why it looks like it has lips on the butt part. :p That was a strange detail.

I picked up a bunch of stuff off my bathroom floor, swept a little, put some stuff away, and scrubbed the hell out of the walls in my room. Some may remember from photos how there was dirt & dead skin (from people touching the wall while walking through-- I often had to touch the wall in the dark to sort of feel my way around). I'd tried cleaning it in the past but it wouldn't come off. I got some new disinfectant wipes and decided to try them out. I still need to clean up above (requires a stepstool or ladder) and below (probably requires sitting). There are cat boogers on the wall that are tough to get off. While I was trying to clean, one of the cats climbed up and decided to lean against the spot I was cleaning.

I need to eat something but my stomach feels a bit bleh so I'm not sure what to eat.

After my 14 days straight run for work, I am useless today. I ate, went to the coffee shop, sent out and replied to messages, and did some crossword puzzles. I have felt nothing but tired today. Perhaps this evening I will pump up my bike tires and go for a ride. Or not. Who knows? I'm making no plans other than cooking up a New York strip and some hash browns...

He doesn't want me to do that. He'd be having an apoplexy over all the stuff I would get rid of and how I would organize things. 😂

I agree with the whole "spark joy" hoopla being a bunch of hooey. The one bit I did find helpful was to get all like items together. When I did that, I discovered we had nearly an entire room full of blankets and pillows! Aaaanndd, books might have been another rather large pile. It does help in evaluating what you have.
PS - my own mom doesn't like me to even do dishes at her house because I put stuff "away." She evidently doesn't look for them in the most logical place they could be 😂

Might need you to whack me with a stick in my future endeavors :). you can send me a bill :)

@LadyLocust that lady that said "spark joy" obviously had not thought about setting fire to her home.
She did have a baby and has since said no more of the marie kon whatever crap she was going on about. Having had a child made her realize it ain't all about having a clean uncluttered house cuz ya just don't have enough time with a baby around. Stuff happens.

Ha, that's funny. You know you can't be a minimalist if you have a baby.
Or if you're a prepper.
My DW no longer mentions what resides in "the mists" of my workshop and the storage room.

It just kinda goes "I need a (whatever)".
Dave says "wait here, if I'm not back in 10 minutes, send in a rescue dog"
Dave brings out "whatever and 2 alternates"

It has been a long strange trip, and I love every minute :)

Back on topic, today is trash day, maybe cut the grass, and make some roundup and deal with the volunteer plants in my beds.

I loaded up six "pods" when we moved here. The big ones. Stuff.
Animal chores, morning misc, and little granddaughter has swimming lessons. I've also got to meet mom at her doc appt after lunch, and little granddaughter will be at her sewing class. I'll fit Aldi in somewhere.
Indeed, after Friday I may be among the "pod people". and the dumpster clan :D

I've always said if I ever move out of this place, I am walking out with the clothes on my back, lol! Your move is keeping me even more grounded!😃 I cant even imagine ever trying to move at this point in life!!

I can imagine moving if DH passes first. That's why I continue to downsize on a weekly basis. I can't imagine trying to move right now.

Already walked and stopped at local clinic for lab work on the way home.
Next will take ebay photos.
Shovel out the city gutter in preparation for next round of storms.
Make oatmeal and cut carrots, both for dog treats.
Not sure what next.

Today's going to be a great day - I'm heading out to do some fishing with my buddy Bobby. We've been friends since high school, and he's always got my back. Speaking of which, whenever I have to travel, he takes care of my farm for me.

In other news, I finally got my $350 back from eBay for a tool that never arrived. It was a bit of a headache, but I learned my lesson to check things out more thoroughly next time. After fishing, Bobby and I are planning to clean and cook whatever we catch. I'm looking forward to a nice, fresh meal.

Just a nice boring day, hopefully!! Go to work, come home and figure out what I really need to do on my lengthy 'to do' list! With the extreme humidity today, I will most likely get a few inside tasks done and definitely hit the pool later! Once again, I typed this and didn't post it!!🤔🙄🙄🙄

Routine watering & household chores, but I'm thinking of starting that kitchen painting project in the next day or two... I'm on a schedule and the deadline is my birthday at the end of the month. That's why I now have zero interest in tackling the bike project, I already had this kitchen project lined up before the bike started acting up, lol. I intend to stick to my original plan and knock out this kitchen painting before the monsoon arrives... I won't wanna paint once the humidity ratchets upward in the monsoon, so I'm gonna check equipment & materials here pronto, and work out a more detailed plan to cover all counters & appliances with plastic sheets, mask fixtures & cabinets & paneling edges, etc. 🤔

The good news is that the kitchen doesn't actually require much painting, it's the masking and floor protection that will be a monumental PITA. Meh, no big deal, I'll simply roll out everything I can first, then "cut in" and be done with the project. Oh, yeah, I have to pull the fridge out of its nook, not only to paint the wall behind it, but to throw down several adhesive vinyl flooring strips on the naked (framed) wood patch put under there a year ago. Back when that stout floor patch was installed, I figured I would paint it when I had to paint the wall, lol... killing two home rehab tasks with one stone. I may have to put a protective covering of primer & paint down on the patch before I apply the adhesive vinyl strips... we'll see how it goes. 😒

In the meantime, I'm enjoying a cold Coors (regular Banquet Beer), thinking about brunch and a movie, lol... my latest 'Purple African Magic' weed seedlings are doing alright, and there are at least four healthy weed plants from the middle round (two are struggling), so my weed crop may pan out better than I expected this year. Once the monsoon rains arrive, I should be golden... same goes for the melon, squash & hot pepper plants growing in the yard. I hope to bring in a good crop of squash and watermelons, especially after looking at the cost of melons lately in the store, pffffffft. They want $7 or $8 for a lousy watermelon, lol... I'll be making heaps of watermelon daiquiris & margaritas in my blender later this year, but I won't be paying those ridiculous whorehouse prices for watermelons, courtesy of the Biden Crime Family, lol.
