I probably need a Pack Rats Anonymous group. it's hard to let go voluntarily, but it if it burned to ground and the wife and pets were ok, I could start over without looking back. Somewhere in there is the middle ground. This may be where I finally find it.This might sound crazy (well you already know I am right ? ) but moving can be a really good thing. When we moved off the mountain, we had a huge yard sale up there, then donated most of the left-overs. We got here and ended up having another huge yard sale then donated left-overs. It's difficult to go through and make decision after decision about what to keep and what goes, but a couple of things result. Things that belonged to others went to them (had stuff of my kids' and of my folks'). Had to declare that we are not a storage unit. What we kept was the best quality "stuff" so our belongings are now of better overall condition and value. And, those decisions are now done and are no longer on my shoulders &/or won't be passed off to others when our time comes. That alone is a huge relief. So it can look daunting, but it can be a real blessing.
I did almost stop buying at yard sales, now their stuff has to BETTER than what I have
The "clear the clutter" is a bunch of . Does it bring you Joy? Frankly , plumbing, electrical, first aid, stop the bleed, etc don't bring me joy until I NEED them at 2 am.
