Today, I am excited to head to my local farmer's fruit market to pick up some fresh vegetables. Supporting our local farmers is so important to me, especially since they always support me in return. Afterward, I plan to hit up some Wednesday yard sales in the area. I can't wait to uncover some hidden gems and score some amazing deals. It's always a thrill to support local businesses while also finding great bargains.

Fell asleep with the light on in my room, lol... too much tequila & busthead cider. Up early this morning, but it's gonna be an easy day today, my back is still a bit stiff from all the stooping & bending yesterday, not to mention the ladder work. No worries, I'm looking good with the kitchen renovation project, plenty of time left to finish the job by my self-imposed deadline. Right now, I'm gonna have a big ol' bowl of cereal with fresh blackberries on top, lol... lately I've been pouring maple syrup on top of my cold cereal as well, usually I save that for the hot cereal, aye?

P.S. When I walked into the kitchen and hit the light switch, it was bright as day in there with all that white paint, lol.

Going to do a quick clean on an older ladies' house, then take her and her dog to the vet. She has an obese old mini Aussie with cancer. He's having a hard time walking. It's  that time, but she's not ready to do it yet. Maybe the vet will nudge her in the right direction! My other lady's A/C still isn't fixed so that job will get squeezed in tomorrow or Friday! Planning NO outside work later, still under the heat warning. Plenty of inside tasks, and pool time later!!

I am shocked, Binx was a lady cat, but back home, flea and worm free and ready to rock and roll.
Calico by chance? Surprised Binx didn't ever have kittens! All male and some female Calicos are sterile! One of my house cats, Mister, is gray and white with some orange on his belly. Got him from an older couple that had to move to assisted living, seven years ago when he was 6months old. When they took him to the vet to get fixed, the vet assumed he was female because male Calicos are rare. Surprise!!

Nope, black :). Male calicos are very rare, If I ever find one at the shelter, it's probably coming home :)

I admit I assumed her pronouns, some cats are rather obvious. I need a higher resolution camera to watch the feeding station :)

I know, but tell my REDACTED brain.
I must love the word "REDACT" I took a tab of sunshine back in my insane youth and shouted it for an hour! I gots no idea why. Go grab the PDF of "Jackknife Proverbs" I uploaded. Simple rules for a simple life, pretty much shave's pointless stuff with Occam's razor. :)

I heard once that a male calico is worth 4K! 0_0

Dogs woke me up at 4:30. Sigh
Walked first.
Did some computer work.
Washed sheets and blankets and put them back on.
Added dirt to tomato plants, jalapenos and potatoes. Planted 2 lick tubs of lettuce. Pruned tomato plants. Cut chives and parsley.
Next, I will flash freeze chives and parsley. Saving a little back to take to friends this afternoon.
Church meeting at 1:30. I was asked to come, but not sure why. I am not on staff or anything. It's about handing all records back over to us from pastor and associate pastor who resigned a couple of weeks ago. We will see.

Up at 3am to wave off husband and two sons who have finally gone on a WW1 tour in Belgium & France they have been on about for years. Back to bed until 8, then spent half the day in the polytunnel, and half the day in my work room, sorting out craft stuff and making things. Don't have to cook dinner, the girls and I will just get snacks whenever we are hungry, and no dishes either. Its also the cats 1st birthday so doughnuts and a movie later :D

Been dealing with issues with our washer and dryer for the past few weeks. Dryer wasn't heating up. K was pissed we might have to get a new one. It is still under the extended warranty until 2025 so I had them come out to look at it. The control/timer needed to be replaced because K and the kids have been turning it counter clockwise and clockwise which dislodged it from the panel. Well, took a bit to get the part but now it is fixed.

Then the washer wasn't spinning out the water at the end of the cycle sometimes. Not under warranty but I called a repair man to look at it. The gear case needed to be replaced and that would cost more than a new machine. We decided to use it until it died but it decided it didn't want to spin at all. So we decided to replace it. K wanted to just get a new one from Home depot or Lowes like we always do but I figured that we needed to get a better quality machine. We have been replacing our washer every 5 or so years. I figured getting a Speed Queen was worth the money if it is built to last 25 years minimum and came with a 5 year manufacturer warranty. 100% USA made. Costs 3x as much but should last 5x as long. Well, we got one and it was delivered yesterday. K said we need to focus on saving for a Speed Queen dryer to replace the 'old' one when it dies after the warranty expires.

Glad I started socking money away for the washer before we needed it. Paid cash and the salesman gave us the braided hoses for free with free delivery. Because of how much we spent on it I will not let the kids touch it.

Got chicken waterers and feeders filled. Just about killed myself emptying, moving and cleaning the horse trough(2x2x8 galvanized). Apparently I started the day dehydrated and then being out in a heat index of 116°F at 1pm was a bad idea. Got it done after a few breaks and an over strong mix of gatorade powder. I'm working on getting another pasture set up for me to bring SOs horse home next week and moving my horse to a different pasture so hers can have a break for a few months. Take rest on the couch then do some things in the house.

Still raining here too. Just put all the animals back in the barn

Butchered meat chickens today in the rain. Husband set up our farmers market tent and table to do it under. The last few chickens we couldn't get the feathers out, and noticed the propane had gone out on the hot water we dip them in first, so it wasn't hot enough. So the last chicken was a real problem. I just removed the skin and cut it up for us. Not selling that one

I wonder if the DMV will be open tomorrow.

Hey now, don’t be working in that being dehydrated! We send the guys home when it hits 105*. It’s too dangerous.

Out on the town with a pretty girl.

Well, did fill a cart at Aldi, did take little granddaughter to sewing, but the girls didn't finish their project, so they'll be meeting up again tomorrow afternoon. And maybe swim lessons in the morning if the weather cooperates. Stopped at the bin stores after dropping her off at sewing, because geesh, it's right near there. The weirdest family I ever saw, and this is in the bigger town next to ours. The mom looked bikerish but with devil 666 tattooed on her arm, real big. The teen boy had a shirt that said demon 666 on the front. The teen girl, was just plain gross. Had a 666 on the front of her shirt, and the back had a star with the word Rabbit around it. It looked so insane, I wasn't sure what to think, so just kept on bin shopping. An older lady my age rushed away from their area, and chatted me up for awhile. I thought I've seen it all, but I guess not. It was 50 cent day at the other bin store, and found an assortment of stuff to stockpile. Got some weeding done in the garden after dinner, and worked till dark. It wasn't so hot then, and it rained all day, so good time to weed.

You had your share of weirdos for a while!! 😮

Woke at 4.30am with a back spasm, as husband is away I was sleeping in the middle of the bed- couldn't get out lol. Managed after a while, actually thought I was going to have to ring one of my daughters downstairs to help!
Lots of tablets and I'm up and about. Re stocking my chest freezer today, just collected a box of chicken pieces, and heading to get bread rolls and other stuff from the catering warehouse. Then I'm going to sit. Carefully. I've two gigs on next week and they are both standing tickets, I need to get this sorted!

Good morning HCL!! Regular work day, hopefully nothing exciting! Not as much humidity today, just good ol' Texas heat! There was another deadly tornado in west Texas last night!☹️ Had fun watching a few baby deer running around playing this morning. They kept an eye on me while I was watering, the moms were snacking on corn.

Been spending every minute trying to help empty my Dad's house and get my brother moved out of it before the nasty eviction people take over. How they took advantage of my elderly father and stole the house is just horrifying, but we have to move on. Not enough money for lawyers to fight back. My garden has been so neglected I'm not sure if I can save anything. I've been watering but it's been so hot and dry it's hard to keep up.
Also need to get back to trying to pack and clean up my place so I can get it on the market. Waiting to hear from my bank on my application for putting a purchase offer on a different house. It's a lot closer to town than I have ever lived, but it has some space and will be safe from windmills and CAFOs.
My husband's friends are coming from Ohio this weekend to pick up the last of his things that I can't use. It's wonderful how they've helped me out handling all of it. When I thank them they say they're doing it to honor his memory because he was such a great friend. This world is certainly a bleak place without that wonderful man in it.
