Good to hear you got some sleep @Peanut we too try and avoid prescription meds but sometimes it is what works in an emergency.

DH took some Endone the other night after all the cleaning and organising and high humidity from the rain, he was in so much pain and our regular herbal creams weren't cutting it but he slept from 9 pm - 8 am and woke up in no pain the next day. 1 box of Endone has lasted 2 years so far and there is still more left.

Terri9630, I've had people ( who still work) ask me what I do now that I'm retired and I tell them any blessed thing I want to.
People have no idea just how stressful and physical taking care of the handicapped can be so I have no guilt that I'm out of the work force.

WE can't be responsible for how others feel. Thats on them. Just enjoy your retirement. I am lol

Its been too hot and humid here to be outside so I've just been piddling around and doing little things like dusting, dishes, sweeping off the front porch, etc

Terri...she should be happy for you!
Planning on getting a coat of paint on a large dresser that is upstairs this morning, and some material put over some pegboard that previous owners put in a bedroom as a "wall" to hang stuff on. Had a good time last night at our cousins "hedgewood hollow". Mom ended up not going; she said her appendix hurt. That's code for "I ate junk food for the last 24 hours and now my stomach hurts". She typically goes overboard on the cookies, donuts, pies, soda pop after an Aldi's shopping trip. So, planning on picking her up this afternoon and we have a houseful tonight for supper at our place. Am cooking Mexican food. This will be a new thing I've not made for family, so we'll see how it flies. Coffee break yesterday morning with the Budget scribe (reporter) was interesting. She arrived a half hour earlier than the planned time, so we were running around a bit. Turned out fine, but I didn't know she was a Bishop's wife until later in the morning. Cousins were minding their p's and q's. We'll have to see what she writes about now in her next edition. Twins are going to continue working on cleaning out the old big barn. Had a Polaris 2 seater delivered yesterday and we've been driving that around, and I'm sure will do more of that. It's turned husband "mobile", and he's loving it.

Last Friday I started a week vacation from work.
I just got back this evening from a camping trip in the woods near a lake for my birthday weekend.
Now I have family at my house until after Labor Day weekend.
This has been the first opportunity to be on the internet since Friday and I'm trying to catch up reading here.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!!

You and my daughter both had a BDay last weekend. Hope yours was as good as hers, they spent week at beach. She is 50 now.

Today call from Dr. they want to do more surgery but I'm thinking more on cream that has really promising results first. Imiquimod immunology type.

Back is better but now it is raining and storming, so can't pull weeds.

Thanks Mobook for advice and I'm being very careful because I fear infection too.

Hello to all.

It is supposed to be another scorcher here in NY today, so I walked to do my garbage and to the store early so that I can stay inside. I closed my blinds and turned my air conditioning up. Yesterday I was pretty cool in here and the heat outside did not affect me at all.

I am working on an eBay listing for the guitar strings my husband and I were selling on our own website. I want to get rid of them so am listing each type as a bulk lot of old inventory that is new in packaging on eBay. Maybe I can get a little bit of money from each of them as we agreed to split it after the shipping, and selling fees.

Working on editing more photos I took with my camera on places I have gone. I use them on my blog and also put them on my Facebook page.

Stay cool everyone!

Rain last night was 1 inch and quarter which we needed desperately.
Water main break was city water dademoss.
Now we are on boil order.
Did Physical Therapy today.
Learning to walk without limp is interesting to say the least.
Physical Therapist watched me walk today, then march, he adjusted my stride, adjusted my foot while walking.
Need to lift toes up more, where knee and hip work in sync.

Job interview today at 2. Been off work for a year, by choice, now need to get busy doing something. I hate the whole resume / interview process. Job would be less than 10 miles from home though which would be good. Especially with winter down the road.

Researching mechanical perimeter alarms.

Bought 8 off of Ebay for a total of $44. These are military surplus M228 Grenade Fuses.

1. These devices have had the original fuse removed.
2. The glue was removed from the top of the head, so that the primer will sit flush.
3. The bottoms of the devices where the original fuse sat has been ground down to be flush and smooth.
4. The devices have been sand blasted to remove all of the corrosion and to provide a better surface for paint.
5. The devices have been drilled out both top and bottom to accommodate a .209 primer.
6. The devices were then air blasted to remove all of the remaining dust.
7. The pins that are notorious for falling out have been loctited. (THEY WERE DESIGNED TO DO THAT)
8. The devices were operationally checked.
9. The devices were painted with ultra flat earth green paint.

So as long as shotgun primers are available...

...but just in case I also bought 3 from Fith Ops that use 12 gauge shotgun blanks. More pricey at $30 each, appear to be high quality and I like that the "mechanics" are not exposed to the weather like the M228.

I'm going to try cleaning the carburetor on the weed eater and maybe trim the fence row.

I'm getting really annoyed at my chainsaw,it won't stay running without the choke about all the way on and as soon as you give it gas it dies. Figured the carburetor needed cleaned or the gas changed. I dumped the gas out and the filter and pick up tube fell out. I ordered a gasket set, fuel & air filters and tube kit. They came I cleaned the carb. and to get the fuel lines changed I needed a set of real long needle nose pliers so I ordered them. They came yesterday and finally after 2 weeks I thought I'd get it fixed. Put in all new lines, new fuel filter, new air filter, new gas, cleaned the carb and it STILL does what it was doing. I doubt the thing has 10 hours on it,I know it's less than 20 hours. I've only had it 5-6 years and only cut a few trees down with it. I thought it might just need adjusted but it takes a special screwdriver which I ordered last Wed. It was ready to ship in a day but it's still hasn't been delivered to the Postal Service. Been sitting in Hebron,Ky. for a week now,it's only a 2 hr and 20 min drive from here, jeesh. If I can't get it adjusted to run right I guess I might have to change the carb. and maybe a new plug even though it looks new. It's really starting to **** me off.

Either the main jet or the emulsion tubes have debris or sludge in or on them. Most often there is debris blocking the main jet hole.

Hubby is agreeing with you. He just did all that SqirrelH did and it was the jets on the carburator ,jet fell out and other one was missing.
Here is where he bought his for less and it runs great. It is also better on gas than it has ever been.

I just pulled up chain saw carbs so find the one you need on the page.

First I dug ditches in the garden to lay logs in for fall and Spring raised beds. Then went into the woods got lots of fallen decayed tree logs [ watching for snakes] :gardening:.
Put rotten logs in ditch, covered them up and hoping they will supply some nutrients. Then got peat moss and mixed it with compost we made covered that up with dirt. Raked it smooth.
Now starting seeds for containers. If it gets cold and plants are doing good I'll set up my grow lights inside near window in December. :fun fun:

Back is still messed up but better ,hand is ok but a little infected. Not bad so will call nurse if it is still red tomorrow.

I made choc chip cookies this morning. Never go outside eating a cookie with my 2 Pitties around lol they about knocked me down! I had to give them each a half of a dog biscuit just to get them to leave me alone so I could finish my cookie lol

Making spaghetti and meatballs for supper

I have to pop over to the farm market tomorrow and pick up another cantaloupe and maybe some apples since they've started to pick them. They also posted they're picking their pears now and that they go fast so I might grab some of those.

Wish I wa picking pears but our pear tree needs some relief from 10 months of rain and clouds.
The Sunshine State is no longer sunny. Never heard of it raining this much in Florida,EVER!

Thanks, the ones I found on Ebay were $30 but that's better and the same carb I need, same part # and all.

Just finished up trimming nails and tattooing ears of the fair rabbits. My hands are covered in ink, but no scratches or bites this time!:woo hoo: Tomorrow I have to move my trailer to the pig pen and start feeding the pig in it so he will load when its time to go to the fair.

Just went through this with a weed eater. Had to remove the plug over the high running jet to be able to adjust it. Good ol epa stupidity. Of course I put the plug back... :sarcasm:

I'm pulling for you Guard. :good luck::thumbs:

Must have helped as I start at 8 am Tuesday. Not a lot of money but is 40 hours so that’s something. :Thankyou:

Nothing special today. On Mon. and Wed. I visited Datu Kelly Worden at Natural Spirit Jeet Kune Do school in the Seattle area. Met some really nice people. Today I trained with Bob Anderson of the Water and Steel genre in Seattle. Course of study was handgun principles for concealed carry. No shooting range because all the poopy heads who own ranges forbid holster drawing and firing.

Details of handgun class not forthwith except by request. Boring week.

Sorry you were in Seattle VoorTrekker.
When to the nearby town and picked up bedding, then mom's prescriptions, then mom. Took her shopping at a second hand store and a Christian store, then out for soft serve ice cream where we met a bunch of cousins. Went out to dinner and a new (very little) brewery with another cousin, and left the twins with mom at her place (the Menno Manor) for entertainment.
Ready to crash. Going to a farm in the morning to help get honey from the hives. Never done it before.

These are all very unexpected comments to read. I didn't know you were a rabbit and pig owner. I thought you were going to say you just finished up trimming YOUR nails and you got tattoos. On your ears. No, the rabbits. I'm glad you were able to do it without much injury this time.
I love county fairs. Have fun!! How long does it last?

@Guardian I'm glad you got a job if that's what you want and need. Congratulations!!!:clapping:

I haven't mentioned it much, but I really appreciate everybody chiming in on everything under the sun when i ask my newbie questions all the time, and when i give my dumb answers like I think I know stuff.
So, thank you for being patient with me. Just please don't talk bad juju about me. :lil guy:
:horsie:
