@Tank-Girl I am glad you are feeling better and yes we tend to forget we have health challenges, past injuries and or conditions and that we need to look after ourselves more.

DH went full steam ahead and wanted the Bogainvillea cut down in the blaring sun and that combined with other yard work and him doing 2 paid gardening jobs he now has heat stroke and is not travelling well. Part of the reason for our Christmas Eve shop was to get some hydolyte powder to get him up and running again which was on a good special so we stocked up on it. He is sleeping now and I will let him sleep until 1 pm and hopefully he will be back on deck and more energised.

Meanwhile his adorable I am so excited about the new home jobs that everything has to be done now has exhausted me too, I must admit I did add a few jobs of my own in the mix eg setting the food storage room up completely. We are now taking 2 solid days off to rest and recouperate apart from small jobs like washing up dirty dishes, doing the laundry and cooking.

We definitely need to learn to pace ourselves and listen to our bodies when they are telling us to stop.

Today we opened up our Christmas presents which we both knew about because we bought them :) . We decided on a practical Christmas and purchased a weather station for the home, a new vacuum cleaner now our other one stopped working and a backpack hedge trimmer, pole chainsaw, lawn edger and whipper snipper in one unit. All things we will use regularly.

For lunch we had crackers, french onion dip, cheese, grated carrot, cucumber, cabanossi and smoked ham. It is hot here so anything cold is working for us a the moment without cooking.

DH has cleaned out the stove and it was filthy from the previous tenants that lived here before it sold to us. Last time we used it grease was dripping out of it everywhere, yuck. How can people just never clean their ovens is beyond me. I know it is everyone's least favourite job but it has to be done. While DH did this I swept the kitchen floor and filled up our home drinking water. DH then made a double batch of magic mix chocolate pudding for desserts for the next couple of days.

Tonight's dinner was BBQ steak purchased on special, hamburger patties and a homemade cold pasta salad washed down with sparkling grape juice we purchased on special.

I'm thinking about my little thugett who is in prison for a long time for armed robbery and the good days gone by with her.
I put up a video in music thread that reminded me of her, the kid acts just like she did. Always joking around [ very talented singing and dancing ] " Nana I'm bored" other kids " shut up Ashley",LOL. We love her very much. She was grandkid number 2 of the 12.
This girl in this video acts just like she did when she was a kid.

Picture of a picture, she is hugging her Papa while oldest jumps rope.
{ Date on pic is not date it was taken.}

Good morning and Merry Christmas!

Today, I will be grilling chicken for lunch for DH, making jalapeno poppers and making a shrimp appetizer with a cooked and chilled shrimp, guacamole on a cucumber round. Making saute'd shrimp with green beans, mushrooms and onions for me. The ham has been put in the freezer for later and not much to do today, except maybe the eBay photos that we keep forgetting to do.

All Christmas comes down tomorrow!

Snappy all mine came down Dec.1984 and I don't miss it at all. Plus imagine buying gifts for 24 grand and great grands. I already hear about arguments about who got what and how much.
"It is not the gift it is the thought that counts " goes right out the window with this last couple generations, LOL
Signed, Scruge :D

Do you know that when I was about 8 or 9 years old (just after watching "How the grinch stole Christmas), my mom and step dad took every vestige of Christmas down Christmas eve and hid it in their bedroom?! Talk about some panicked kids on Christmas morning! LOL

My grandkids once ask me "Nana why don't you like fun days "? I told them the money I spend on them during the year taking the all kinds of places ,Snow skiing in Mountains, Diving in The Keys, beach all summer, roller skating, fishing etc,etc,etc,. So I said " I'll just buy yall a present on xmas then and skip all these trips that 'are not fun'.}
They all said no Nana we like those trips the best. Plus their parents got all summer to themselves while the kids stayed here. I had a couple in softball too. We taught them how to roller skate, swim, fish, dance and sing [those who could anyway] snorkel and work.

We both just hanged out today. Watched some of the Die Hard marathon, I read some. Made us meals. Did some laundry.
I want to give you a good example as to why I use prepaid CC to do online shopping: I was buying some cuff links and a couple of nice bracelets that caught my eye and the total came to $24.77. I put in my CC that still had $33.88 left on it but it came back that there was insufficient funds on the card. Apparently someone cleaned out the card. Well jokes on them cuz there ain't gonna be no more POS's.
I will not use my main CC online anymore that is why I save my money and the buy the prepaid cards. They might get some money it won't be at my credit limit(!!!)

Everybody except youngest daughter (and twins who live here) have gone home. Things are quiet! House is a mess, but the kitchen is done. Not sure if my assistant is coming to work tomorrow or not, but we will have to delay our trip if I go in. Trying not to worry about it. Am relaxing with my feet up, ready to watch something on tv, then shower, then off to bed.

Very good advice WV, so many ways to get ripped off now it is wise to be careful as you can.

Thats what my daughter said, after her daughter and 4 grands left the house was in need of a good cleaning. They were there for 5 days. Now her MIL & FIL are coming to spend a couple days.
I told her to just be nice and tell the MIL she loves her but she is having a bad menopause month and needs time out now and then and not to feel bad if she is absent now and then.

Hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas.
This Granny is sitting in her recliner with her feet up, drinking root beer out of 2 liter bottle.
This Granny is also out of practice of putting together toys for small children.
Estelle's daddy put together the shell of her kitchen.
But was too tired to figure out the doors.
So Granny figured out the doors tonight.
Everything lines up, opens and closes correctly.
This Granny is also too tired to go get a glass for her root beer.
Easy day tomorrow hopefully.
My dad is almost always giving Estelle new foods to try.
Today it was Squirrel Stew.
Wasn't bad, dumplings was a bit doughy, but besides that not bad.
As soon as I finish my Root Beer, I'm off to bed.
Night.

Had my MAG (kids, grandkids, in-laws actually the best kind) over for dinner, exchanged gifts and went to pajama movie night to see Mary Poppins. I didn't wear pj's and thankfully a thoroughly enjoyable Disney movie with no overt in your face messages. Tonite I'll start my seeds for my hydroponic system. When the Great Prepper comes he'll see that this year I'm the most sincere prepper and I'll be prepper of the year.

Today being boxing day we decided to check on the price of the 90 cm oven we were keeping our eye on to replace the worn out one here. Turns out it was on special so we went in and purchased it at a much cheape price and went into town to pick it up with our trailer. They only had one in stock and when we went into the shop it was reduced again from what we saw online by another $100.

Before we left I cleaned the bathroom and toilets for the week as I didn't get to do them earlier in the week and DH cleaned the rumpus room so we can move in there and could also temporarily put the oven in there when we got home. The oven weighs 90kg so not light so DH and I struggled to get it through the door even with a moving trolley but we got there. We will get a quote from our friend the electician on installing the oven and upgrading the power , installing 3 x led fluro lights and a couple of power points and save up for that. He will not be available to do the job until late January which we give us plenty of time to save.

Tonight's dinner was toasted ham and cheese sandwiches with magic mix chocolate pudding for dessert with sparkling apple juice.

Great, we like hydro. I sure do get the Hollyhood agendas in movies now too. Good luck on Prepper of Year.

Hubby took a load of metal in to be recycled and we'll put that money towards bills again ( mostly his CC's. I'm tempted to take the darn things away from him *sigh*).
I'm doing laundry and vacuuming the floors and shaking rugs now before the rain comes tomorrow night into friday
Apparently its Cary Grant day on the movie channel. Watched Arsenic and Old Lace
Lunch will be sandwiches from the leftover ham slices
Supper will be the leftover chicken noodle soup I made. Might make some garlic toast go with it

Just out of curiosity does anyone else take premade cole slaw mix and use ranch dressing on it as a salad? I also use some caesar salad dressing on it too and its really good lol
I get tired of the "lettuce" types of salads and the cabbage has a nice crunch to it
