@Bacpacker prayers for you from both DH and I to have a good outcome with your back. DH has a bulging/crushed L5S1 so I know the pain you are going through. Prayers also for your husband too @Meerkat and also look into regular physiotherapy for him also.
DH had physiotherapy on his today and is going regularly two weekly sessions and then once a month. Tens machines work for some but with physiotherapy they have something similar to a tens machine but works on a different frequency to maintain the blood flow around the damaged area. They also use reflexology for pressure points to relieve the pain too and massage helps immensely. Well worth looking into regular physiotherapy and if you have some arnica cream (we use brauers) rub that into your back and legs when you get the radiating pain that ineveitably comes with these types of injuries. This cream sort of numbs the area naturally with herbs and then reapply when it wears off every 2 - 3 hours, try it as it doesn't work for everyone. Also high doses of magnesium and calcium also help with the muscle spasms that cause pain so worthwhile discussing this type of natural pain relief too and the doctor would recommend which doses for you to take for your particular problem. DH was prescribed 1000mg of magnesium and and one 600mg calcium tablet per day.
There are lots of alternative therapies to having surgery so discuss all options with your doctor. Pain medications such as Stellax or Baclofen also are good which stops the muscle spasms and there are others as well. Look also into core back braces to support your lower back when doing physical work as they are good too and can be specifically ordered through your physiotherapist to make sure you get the right size and fit.
I hope this helps you and do discuss the options above with your doctor and get prescribed what is right for you personally but this will give you some alternatives.
Thank you @WVDragonlady.
Rather confusing in our religion we have what is a wedding sealing day where you are sealed together for eternity in the temple which we celebrate on that date being May 1 and as we were married civilly and not in the temple we also have our civil union wedding anniversary also in August. Technically we get to celebrate our wedding twice a year instead of once.
I'm off work today. Plan to go to the grocery this morning and pick up the sales. Have a 10% off from Tractor Supply, need to get feed. House to clean. Our youngest daughter's pinning ceremony for her last year in Pharmacy is early evening. Need to go pick up some flowers for her, and leave early for that. Traffic will be terrible that time of the day, and it's a ways away. Thinking I'll need to leave about 2 hours ahead.
