Got 2 large moving boxes emptied while feeding the cats this morning and this evening. One was cat beds we never used so they went in the donate box. The other was assorted junk from my dresser drawers that got packed up when we moved over a year ago. I tossed a lot of junk from that box. I added somethings to the donate box and others to the sell on ebay box.

Vacuumed the living room rug and will most likely have to do it again before we open presents on Friday morning. The den will be done tomorrow since I have to move the dogs bed and the kids toys.

The ham came out of the freezer for Christmas dinner. It is a spiral cut pre-cooked ham from Costco. I figured I'd keep some normal traditions for the girls even though this has not been a normal year. I will be making split pea soup with the bone.

We are going to my folks' house for New Years Eve. We have to be home before the afternoon on the 2nd because BAiley has a vet appointment at 3pm for the rest of her vaccines. Fun! That cat pees in her carrier. I am going to pick up a hard carrier for her. I can then hose it out of needed and use a rag towel for padding inside.

K is getting Mexican from a local place for dinner tonight and I will cook a small roast tomorrow. Taquitos! Yum!

Had a busy morning moving furniture all over the place for the beds that arrived at 10. So the beds are one bed, but we have to split them in two for the moment. Then into town to drop off gifts to Mom, then the Dollar Store for more wrapping paper, and to the store we got the beds from for the special sheets (King split) for the beds. We dropped granddaughter off at a friends about 10 miles out. Then unloading, and little granddaughter and I went to meet her mom and her mom's boyfriend at the local burger joint. They hadn't seen each other for over a year, and I expected a big emotional reunion, but it was lacking. They visited for a couple hours, then we left to pick up granddaughter from her friends house. Back home, early dinner, got the kids to the Christmas activity at the Menno church. They took a big van out to look at Christmas lights, sang songs, and ate donuts. So, tomorrow I need to do some cleaning, cooking, Little granddaughter's mom and mom boyfriend stopping in for the afternoon, and then some fun stuff in the evening. Mom called and decided she would not be afraid of covid and would come over after all for Christmas. So, we'll pick her up and bring her over Christmas day. Beats sitting in her apartment alone all day.

Put a diaper in the bottom of the carrier 😸
@Amish Heart Glad Mom decided to join you for Christmas 🎄

Took the day off work today. Got out and sowed some grass seed in the front yard (main area the dog runs in). I had bought 2 50lb bags of fescue and 1 50lb of Crimson Clover a couple years ago (I thought). I had noticed one of the fescue bags had ripped and was leaking seed. As I started moving them all 3 bags had deteriorated, so I put the clover in 2 5 gallon buckets, and the fescue in a 30 gallon metal trash can. Probably lost a lb of each. Oh well not so bad.
After than I got a chain saw out and cut back a bunch of brush and cut 2 trees. Took the rest of the day to clean up all the brush and dump it on the brush pile.

Sitting up watching the “Tremors” series of films tonight (giant worms underground that chase and kill people). I’m not into monster movies unless they are funny, like “Shaun of the Dead”. Some of the Tremor movies are pretty funny, almost slapstick stuff, sort of like the 3 Stooges with weapons and a better vocabulary.

I have the first 4 Tremor movies as a set. I saw a new one at wally’s the other day “Tremors Shrieker Island”, #7, and bought it, enjoyed it. Now I guess I’ll have to find the 5th and 6th one’s on dvd and buy them. I’ve seen both already and enjoyed them, but I'd like to have the complete set.

I had to do something to stay awake… I’m getting massive thunder storms tonight, over an inch of rain already. I’m running the sump pump every 5 minutes, got the area rugs up and the new wet vac plugged in and ready in case it floods again.

Hopefully the few things I did over the weekend will keep it to a minimum… As I’ve posted before, the real fix requires a contractor with a track hoe and basement sealing equipment. That’ll have to wait until after the holidays.

So… Its back to Tremors 2 “AfterShocks”!

I got a call from my friend's gf that my friend needed to go to the doctor and she wanted me to take him. Got there and friend was pissed off at her refusing to go.
Took him to the hardware store to get some stuff to repair/replace handles on some doors. Helped him install them. He & his GF had a spat and he got depressed after that. Said he should just die and wouldn't let me take him to the ER despite his symptoms getting worse.
My brother sat with him while I went to the tire shop to get my tires changed. They fixed my skid plate (which had lost a bolt and dropped so it was scraping the ground) for free. But I think it's rubbing the tire when I make right turns so it might need to be moved forward a bit.
We'd planned to do toekick install and hardware on cabinets but friend was too depressed. I'll see if he's feeling better tomorrow.
While working on the door, the 1yr old in the house kept getting underfoot, grabbing stuff she was told not to touch, and trying to go outside. My brother stopped her from going outside and she got upset and started wailing. He wailed back at her. She came running in to us trying to express her anger at him and all she managed was "Big... FAT!" Kid's mother was at the store at the time.
Got fried chicken from a local business.
Mom requested whoppers from Burger King, then had me heat up leftovers a few hours later.
She found a dead baby copperhead next to her desk. She said she thought it looked like braided hair, touched it, and it fell (it was up on a box next to her desk). That makes me worried there might be more. I put it in a container and capped it just in case it was only playing dead. It had bite marks on it so I think dogs got it, but if there's one, there are more somewhere and they can pose a danger. Need to make sure we get rid of them. Wish we had a pet king snake but our dogs would probably attack it.

Peanut, I think I've only seen Tremors and Tremors II. I remember at least one of them had Kevin Bacon. I enjoyed those movies. Stir of Echoes was another good one but wasn't humorous. The Shaun of the Dead movies are great. You might like the old movie "Murder By Death" although it's not really a horror movie, but it is funny.

After yesterday's post in Whats to be Done, I decided that I would start prepping for it today. I am sharing my plan with my conservative friends, they already think I half crazy so this will not alarm them. :) I will be laying out all of my planned projects for the first 3 months of the year and will try to figure out exactlly what I need to complete them. Today, by noon I hope to have the vehicles fueled and backup tanks topped off. I know I have 3 big projects planned, so I will make a build lists for them and buy the stuff the first part of next week. I will also check to see what I will need at the grocery store and plan my final trip for next Wednesday morning.

Then my New Years resolutions are:
1)I WILL NOT TO BUY ANOTHER THING UNTIL February 15 at least (I would love to go till April 1, but need to be realistic)
2)Start a diet and exercise program with goal of losing 35 pounds

Sonya Ihope they can find some kind of prostetic 'spl' to help get you back on your feet. :huggs:

Thanks, I probably shouldn't complain as much, sorry...I AM walking and doing farm work. I usually walk around 5 miles a day just around here doing the usual stuff ( my phone measures steps) . Even without the foot at some point I would have to admit I am getting too old to ski ( close to mid 50s now yikes)

I want to lose 35 lbs also,. I am about 20 overweight now plus want to lose some extra. Maybe we can encourage each other :)
I am going to cut out all alcohol, chips, cookies and eating late at night and see what that does. I cook pretty healthy stuff, so the extra is most likely the problem for me.

One comment on not buying anything: if you have the money, my suggestion would be to spend it. There might be inflation, and there will be shortages and things might not be available later. Just saying....

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas! Might not be able to get on here until after if our power goes off (we have backup but the internet usually doesn't work if the power goes off)

Today I am going to get most of the food for tomorrow ready so I can just put it in the oven tomorrow. I am making a turkey, some casseroles, pies , rolls, potatoes.
Took cookies to various neighbors yesterday, that was fun. Hadn't visited with them in a while other than saying hello outside. Nobody sick, everyone is ok.. They probably already had it since they don't isolate, don't wear masks, travel all over the place and don't worry about it.

Weather is very bad so animals are staying in the barn, we are about to go clean around them and put more hay and water out

Hey @sonya123 so sorry to hear about your foot, I know it really limits what you can do. 16 years ago my wife had some medical treatments that resulted in bone degeneration, that resulted in bad case of Charcot foot in her right foot, she got a new cast every 2 weeks for 6 months and has been in the equivalent of a ski-boot ever since. No ankle, no flex, and no strenght; but she can walk a little (part of why the basement became a man cave, she can't do stairs). The part she really hates is that she lost the ability to drive (not all due to the foot, but it didn't help).

My only advice to you is be sure to take care of your foot, don't let it get infected as you can end up losing the whole thing.

As I ran my errans part A this morning I was thinking that taking a billion dollars out of the economy each month would have an impact that the government can see and is on par with the 2008 economic crunch. So I am moving forward, I also decided that some of my project are actually spring projects, so I can do the planning and work up, but save the spending until I actually need the projects completed, say April 15.

While I was picking up some things at the store I saw my soda was on sale, buy 2 get 3 free... Hey, you don't have to tell me twice. Now if I could just learn to ration those things... ;)

Still twiddling my thumbs, so I decided to make bread.

I did that yesterday, too! Made lunchroom style dinner rolls and they turned out amazing! Already figured out this morning that if I heat one in microwave for 20 seconds, it tastes and has consistency of just out of the oven.

Cooking our Christmas dinner (frozen lasagna LOL) today. Also making olive jalapeno cheese bread and then sausage gravy for DH. Shouldn't have to cook for several days after.

Might dust the house today and I never set up my eBay 2021 system yesterday. Making rolls sounded like more fun to me!

I think I've slept through the night only 4-5 times since the time change - still not in sync with it. Last night I woke about 12:30ish and didn't get back to sleep until after 3am. Then had awful dreams. The one I remember is that it was the day before Christmas (today) and I went out to the summer kitchen and both the stoves out there were gone! (We have a second stove and an old one we are eventually restoring. It really only needs new rubber around the doors.) Anyways, I asked Hubby where the stoves went and he said he dumped them down by the river, that they were old and we'd just get a new one. We do a turkey and a ham for Christmas. He doesn't care for turkey so says I, How will we cook the ham? I was fuming- I must have woken at that point or moved on to an equally as stroughtful dream ~
I told Hubby this morning and he was cracking up laughing. He knows way better than to "mess with my kitchen" and he is way to fond of food to endanger his ham dinner, aaaand we are both disgusted by people who dump things (litter.) He doesn't do any of the cooking and is appreciative of all I do in the kitchen 😄
Have tons to do today like many of y'all so if I'm not back on here, have a merry and blessed Christmas 🎄

I like those kind of rolls, when I was a kid mama use to buy what they called parker house rolls at the bakery, delicious@:great:,haven't had a roll that good sense young teen.

I have to confess that sometimes I don't give my wife the credit she deserves (although putting up with me should be enough for knight-hood).

I told her what I was thinking about come New Years this morning and she wasn't too excited about it.

A few minutes ago I was helping her in the kitchen and when we were done she said, I've been thinking about what you said and gave me a list of holes that she sees in the pantry that she would like to see filled before I lock things down for a few months.

I guess she has learned that it's a short trip from urbanhunter thinking about and urbanhunter doing.....

I didn’t get to bed this morning around 7am, woke up an hr ago. I hate long nights… I ran the sump pump every 3min 20sec from just after midnight until almost 7am. I was using my kitchen timer to keep me on schedule. The sump pump well holds about 4 gallons, Don’t know how many gallons I pumped but it was a lot.

The good news is that my ditching efforts around that corner of the house paid off. The water coming in the back wall never got ahead of the pump so I had no flooding in the house. The down spout from the gutter comes down at that corner also, almost 1000sqft of roof feeds it. It rained 2.42 inches last night.

I’m too old for this crap, got to get a basement sealing guy up here to fix this problem professionally.

I needed to get one more gift today but I’m not getting out of my chair for anything but food. Good thing I bought a couple extra gift cards. Looks like someone is getting dinner at “Outback Steak House”.

I'm going to sit here and watch the "Band of Brothers" marathon and the only college football game played today.

Really sorry you have to deal with thus Peanut. I didn't sleep much last night either, heartburn. I need to raise the head end of bed about 4 inches like it was a couple years ago.

Just chillin'. I gave up on fixing my truck. I got it all back together except for putting the bed, tool box and rear tires back on it,I'm waiting on my son to come over and help me with those. After the first of the year we're going to pull it over to my neighbor that owns a garage and let him figure out what's wrong with it. I told him I won't have the money to fix it until tax time but since I've known him his whole life he let's me pay him whenever I can. I just hope it isn't too high.

Went and visited my favorite cousin today, and we both nearly cried. It's been weeks and weeks. First she had covid, then we did. So it's been forever. They got news her husband's brother passed yesterday in MO, so they are leaving in the morning with a driver. Will be in a hotel room Christmas night. Funeral on Saturday, then back home Saturday night. When it rains, it pours. Little granddaughter's mom and mom's boyfriend (Boxcar) visited most of the afternoon. They are an odd duo. They just left, and older granddaughter and I spent the afternoon cooking for tonight and tomorrow. Prime rib is in the oven for tonight, green beans are ready to steam, bread is done, and I only have to put in some potatoes to bake. Made three pumpkin pies and the stuffing and the angel eggs (deviled ha) for tomorrow. Granddaughter made a big bowl of fresh whipped cream. Gaining ten pounds looking at it. Tonight will be the kids opening one gift each and they want to watch Polar Express. Picked a bunch of radishes and cut alot of lettuce and spinach from the greenhouse. for a good salad.

Today it dropped in temperature and was cold. It even rained at one point. I had 4 cats sitting at the window watching the rain. Now everyone is in front of the fire snoozing.

I have to finish wrapping gifts tonight and K IS helping even if he doesn't want to. ;)
