We started off the day with myself putting on a load of washing and hanging it on the clothes line and bringing it in when dry & DH watered part of the back lawn with saved grey water from our showers and washing machine. Out into the gardens we went and DH harvested all the ripe silver beet and I harvested all of the lavender buds off the plants in the front yard.

Having dried lavender in the house we took them down from where they were drying and separated the flower buds off them making 26g of dried French Lavender to add to our collection. Moved into the kitchen where we blanched and froze 3.5 bunches of silver beet picked from the gardens making another 4 meals for the freezer and also blanched the sweet corn picked from the gardens making another meal of sweet corn for the freezer.

Dinner tonight was bacon and egg sandwiches for something a bit different and easy after a hard day prepping and cooking garden produce.

Probably not going to do much today other than set around the house on here and watching movies, another gloomy day outside.
Try quilting, it helps whittle the day away.
And you can do that while watching tv, watching movies......
I'm working on quilt block birth announcements right now.
I posted some on GRAM'S Thread and I think in sewing, quilting and embrodiery forum.

Finally got laundry started.
It's in dryer now.
Working on Birth Announcement Quilt Blocks for all the new babies in my family.
I think I need 9 so far, but just to be on the safe side I'll probably make up a couple of dozen.
Better to be prepared, then behind all the time.
Which is what it seems like I am.
Then I will start on baby quilts for the family too. Probably a dozen or so.
By that time it will time to start thinking about Christmas.

I've never gotten into that type of thing,I'm not even good at sewing up little holes in my pockets,my wife on the other hand does crocheting and it looks boring as all get out to me. I'm more into fixing things ;).

Wife and I went for about a 2 mile hike yesterday afternoon. She got tired but was OK and said she wanted to do more so she could build her stamina. Quite a change from when we still lived in Minnesota where she sometimes used a walker when walking around town.

When the wife was more health conscious...I'd push the lawn mower for three hours and go in the house for a drink of water. Wife would then want me to go on a walk with her down the road and back (3 miles), which I did. After a few times walking with her I suggested why didn't she get her 3 mile exercise walk in by mowing the lawn? Her, "Why would I do such a stupid thing like that?" look told me that wasn't an option.

I took the day off of work to catch up around the house. Yesterday was a flurry of crazy after husband's "not a surgery" happening. But I'm very glad. His breathing is bad today, still went to work, but was using his portable oxygen. I got a 3 ft cage built for the junior chickens that were still in tubs in the house. So 9 of them got to go to the porch with the 16 ducks as neighbors. The ducks will be waterproof in a week and a half and then can go to the duck habitat. The bummer was I made the cage 3 inches wider than the door, and I made it inside. My son helped me bend it a bit to force it out. Then we repaired it. Made it with small gauge wire and j clips. Got some errands run and housecleaning done (a little, but it needs a lot). But back to work tomorrow. Not sure where my day went.

Got the goat shed cleaned out and I have a kidney stone moving. That was not a job for a 60 year old with a stone! So glad it is done though and dumped all the straw and poop up in the rose garden. No rain tomorrow so I hope to get it spread Thursday. Church function in the morning (maybe) and doc appt. for dh tomorrow afternoon. Sure wish this stone would get a move on! It is about halfway or a little more down the tube but not far enough!

Stopped by Walmart on the way home from work tonight. Wanted to replace my old plastic laundry hamper that had a blow-out. While there, noticed Ball has "new" Amber Jars that blocks 99% of harmful UV rays...

Hello everyone and I hope you have had a wonderful day :) .

We started off the morning with thinning and transplanting all the silver beet seedlings in a nursery area in the gardens into their new positions near multiple drippers and we had extra we also planted in another garden bed. DH planted another 2 drippers out with multiple beetroot seeds that we will thin out when they are larger and I put dried powdered egg shells around the silver beet in an attempt to stop some of the bugs eating them. DH also trench composted some vegetable peelings from our silver beet and we watered the newly planted vegetable seeds with the blanching and cooling water we used last night and added some water from the rain water tanks.

This afternoon we have done 2 loads of washing and hung them out and are now washing all the summer blankets and coverlets to put away to get out our winter blankets. Then we both watered a bucket load of grey water each on the side and some of the back lawns. All day we have been using dish & glass rinsing water for the gardens and have now turned off one rain water tank due to lack of rain and low levels of water. I do hope we get a good downpour shortly to fill the rain water tanks back up as the household grass is brown as hay at the moment.

We headed into the food storage room and did a bit of organisation in there and it looks much better. Shortly we shall wash the dirty dishes, clean benches and I will wipe them and put them away.

Spent some interesting time navigating web sites. Let me give you the back ground.

January of this year I received a interesting letter. An amateur looking printout implying it was from the Social Security Administration. The letter was sent to me to confirm our recent phone conversation (I didn't talk to anyone from the S.S.A.). Us folks that are close to retirement must be on a watch list because I'm continuously receiving "official" looking letters that are "Time sensitive" junk mail so I threw the S.S.A. letter in the trash, thought about it and then retrieved it. Good thing I did! On one of the pages was my wife's and mine full names, date of Births and Social security numbers! Another page stated my first S.S. check would be in the mail soon! What the...I didn't apply for S.S.!!!!

Printout had a telephone number of the local S.S.A. office I could call with questions. I search on the Internet confirmed the telephone number was real. I called! S.S.A. advised I would have to come to their office in person, prove who I was and we could go from there. They made an appointment for me the next day. I did.

S.S.A. said I was the second one coming in that day with the same problem. National security breaches, crooks mining personal information, someone posing as me applied online (the letter stating "phone conversation" was generic) for my S.S. benefits. Electronic deposit was to a some type of debit card account. First payment had not be made, S.S.A. put a stop on it. Asked for my permission (granted) to stop any and all online applications that pertain to me in the future.

S.S.A. is investigating. The only place I know that the wife's and my information are together in one place is on our tax return AND a work related online medical survey (work was changing medical coverage and needed to know...).

When I mention to the oldest daughter what had happen she went into orbit. "DAD YOU NEED TO FREEZE YOUR CREDIT!" So this leads us to today.

Equifax, Experian and TransUnion are the big 3 credit report companies. I requested my free annual credit report from all three. The reports had no surprises (like a penthouse purchase in North Korea). A credit card that I thought I had canceled 10 years ago showed up with a zero balance (I better call them direct and cancel!). Now came the interesting part. The freezing of my credit.

Equifax and Experian websitse evidently doesn't like my desk top browsers. I get so far into it then it times out. I tried multiple times using Firefox and IE. I finally tried my Ipad and competed the navigation, questions (prove who you say you are) and completed the freeze. TranUnion access worked fine with Firefox. One requires a 6 digit numerical PIN another a jumble of number, letters, CAPS and special characters longer then my shirt sleeve (OK I may be exaggerating a little) and the third no PIN requirement.

Now if I'm understanding my Daughter correctly and what I comprehended on the 3 credit report companies sites, anyone (me included) trying to get credit (in my name) will be denied. Works for me because I'm debit free and have zero plans at this stage in life applying for any future credit. If I do then all I have to do is renavigate the 3 credit companies websites and allow a one time access.

I'm going to let my brain rejuvenate before doing the same with the wife's credit (or lack there of).

Well it says "adjustment" so I think you can, though if it doesn't come with an automatic turner feature I think it is too pricey.

Can't vouch for this one but it is in your price range, you could probably look up reviews on it (personally I would make sure to research reviews before buying one, too risky otherwise): https://www.ebay.com/itm/SIL-RITE-F...132203261051?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10

(though this probably deserves its own thread in the chicken's section)

After what my incubator's doing now I'll be buying another whether this batch hatches or not,the crazy digital display is flashing all over so bad I can hardly read what it's saying. The incubator you listed doesn't sound any better than the 1 I've got,I've only seen 1 positive post about it. On the other hand the HovaBator incubators have mostly good reviews with only a few bad and they're considered 1 of the best brands from what I've seen other than Brinsea so I think I'll go with 1 of them, probably this 1 though since it doesn't have an electronic thermostat.

Possibly this 1 though,I haven't decided for sure yet.

Got the pine shavings to move the chickens out of the greenhouse, maybe move em next week, got em some feed too while I was there. Worked with the dog on lead and boundaries in the front yard. Kinda a slow day, but the rain has stopped for now. Next is dinner, then we will see :)

I froze mine for 3 months in 2015 and again in 2017. I pay for a monitoring service, just one call to them and they handle it with the big 3 reporting companies. I don't have to deal with them or websites. I pay about $10 a month and it's not a bad deal for what that price buys.

Lowes had 30%off on the appliances we wanted for the mtn place and 18 month no interest on our Lowes card sooo. After getting off work at 8am we made the 150mph round trip to the city to get our appliances and the remaining lumber and drywall to finish the other house. Then I went back to work and now I'm to tired to even eat.

I went to the big town today for groceries and errands. I priced miter saws at the big box store, found one I liked, in my price range, quality product. I swapped the incorrect powersaw chain I bought for the correct one. Now I can tackle a bunch of brush that grew up in a fence line. My old chain is about worn out, let it go out in style! :D

It was idiot day on the streets. It’s really nice that the city occasionally allows idiots to drive for errands and such. I just wish they would tell the rest of us the day so we can stay home…
