We had pulled and piled up some really large weeds from the dog's pen and hubby had cut the weeds with the weeder....today he went down to the old house and brought the shredder down...this is the upright one, not the one that goes on the tractor...he worked on it, put in the gas and started it only to discover he left the heavy bag in it that catches the chopped up mulch. .....so.....it froze up the whole thing...and he worked for about two hours trying to get the bag out....I finally went out and said, "give me that ratchet!" He kept insisting I could not do it...NEVER TELL ME THAT...LOL...so I unbolted bolts, used a foot long screwdriver to try to open it up....finally had to ask for his knife to cut the bag up...and proceeded to tell him to pull as I cut....got it out...LOL...he really did not want me to squirt WD40 on the blades, but I always did that on my old one....and to his surprise....it worked perfect...but he was too tired to shred up the weeds so he took a nap...tomorrow we work..

Left early from work today due to a semi truck, that was hauling a construction water tank, did not clear the bridge on the interstate, crashing underneath it. That portion for traffic was closed so I left early to miss rush hour madness.

Stopped at the grocery store and picked up a Boston butt, so to barbecue, and a small bag of beans, both are now in pots on the stove for weekend meals.

Did sand maintenance and a water change in my saltwater aquarium. The water is cloudy this evening, but it should clear by morning. My fish look happy, healthy, and well fed. :)

Ha...you and me both, about the plans Innkeeper.
I have some "hope to get dones" for the weekend. Grandson left yesterday for a Boy Scout camping weekend, so it's a little quieter around here. I hope to get more of the house cleaned, a lot of dried foods packaged, the food storage area cleaned out, the garage cleaned out, the dehydrator filled with blanched carrot rounds, the stock tanks full of veggie seedlings weeded of elm tree seedlings (darn, those elm seeds!). But husband's breathing hasn't been so good this weekend, and I tend to be paced by how he's doing, so we'll see.

Sitting in hotel room with 3 other Military LEO's reading about you guys is relaxing right now.
The hard part starts soon enough.
Didn't get my steak last night. Oh, well there's always late Sunday night, early Monday morning(0300 hours).
We paid our respects to the widow early this morning(0600 hours). Talked with her for a while.
Wrestled with 7 year old, held 9 year old while she cried, looked at the 11 year old trying to be brave.
And the 16 year old daughter nowhere to be found, nor was the 17 year old son.
This was a his, hers, and their's marriage.The younger three(theirs) 16 year daughter(his) 17 year son(hers).
I have a hinky feeling about this. And I'm not the only one that has that hinky feeling.
Sure hope we are all wrong. But local LEO's have the same hinky feeling.

Hope things go good for everyone. Especially the kids

Had a nice day at church this morning where they explained the new way of doing things so quite a few changes involving a more personal approach which if it works would be better. Caught up with a few friends and had a few chats.

Not much done today as it is our day of rest but we think the kettle is on it's way out so we will go to town tomorrow and pick up another one.

On Friday we got the power bill in after the power companies estimate which was woefully overestimated by the looks of it. The good news is we have reduced our electricity use again by $20 a quarter from our previous properly read electricity bill reducing our use by 7.84% and we are using less and paying less than what we did 13 years ago despite power price rises. We think the power company estimated it because they couldn't see how we got our usage so low, :p to their recent 3.5% price rises and :clapping: to us for only turning on the electric hot water system when we need to heat the water twice a week instead of leaving it on all the time.

Good for you, Sewing, and I know you use indoor solar lights, too. Now that is dedication! I need to buy some new outdoor path lights, as ours have bitten the dust. Those are good to bring indoors, too in the evening.
Am needing to do a Sam's Club run. Not wanting to, but need to. Meat chicks are getting too big for their indoor tubs. Am thinking of putting them outside today. Will be ready to butcher in about 4 weeks.

Got to do Wal-Mart run bummer.
Strawberry has been out taking care of her business.
She also been rolling in the raised garden beds.
As I made her stand still while I picked dry dead brown leaves off her before she came back in the house.

Going to be doing some cooking today.

It was nice to catch up with the unit, just wish it could have been other circumstances.
Got most of my gear put away.
Till needed again.
Got a small load of laundry that needs doing up.
Wal-Mart run-done
Strawberry is still rolling in raised bed- picked stuff off her again, again, and again.

Today we rest. Yesterday was our annual"Tristate Medical Reserve" Summit (Annual meeting and training). Renewed my CPR/AED certification, and learned about "Team Rubicon", an organization that deploys to disaster areas and is veteran based.

Went to church ( so glad I did)! Picked rotisserie chicken up for lunch. Bathed my dogs so they are clean and ready to go to our sons’ home while we are gone for hubbys surgery. Now on to the laundry and packing. Chicken coop all cleaned with fresh water and pine shavings in the nests. Need to mow around the house so it doesn’t take over.

Is this where you and your mother lived? It seems that the work has been on you, and this is the way it works in some families, one person gets the work and responsibility, while others want and want.

Talked to my neighbor about helping me get the end of our pier up out of the water, the posts on 1 end has tilted for some reason, and found out that most of them are fastened to an auger on the bottom. I didn't know that,so I've been looking up dock auger wrenches, learn something everyday ;).

The larger part of the work has fallen on the shoulders of my sister, her 2 kids and me. Yeah its where mom n me lived.

It's a dirty job,but somebody has to do it :p ;) .....Sorry,couldn't resist
It was a very dirty job because we are so dry here and it was windy today. It was only 2 yards of dirt that I needed but by the time I finished it seemed like a lot more than that. But the raised beds are all full and ready for planting.

Church this morning then cleaned house and cooked dinner. Got 2 floor lamps and three heavy duty plastic Norwegian type chairs from a yard sale yesterday. floor lamps--2 for $5, and the chairs were all three for $10. Cleaned up and put the lamps together this afternoon. Watered little garden.

Started off the morning with going to town to pick up another kettle for the kitchen as the other one is dodgy and picked up some pectin for jam making. Wouldn't you know it after picking up a new one the other one has decided to behave, I think it knew we were threatening to replace it. DH stain removed some whites and put them in the washing machine and when we got home he put a load of washing on and hung it out and watered the lawns and some seeds that haven't yet sprouted and come up with saved grey water from our showers and washing machine.

Moved into the kitchen where we made two batches of lemon and orange marmalade in the bread making machine out of free lemons gifted to us by a friend and oranges that I purchased on clearance special when we did the grocery shopping. Making 5 jars or 1.682kg for $2.48 including power isn't bad at all and we saved $22.41 over purchasing and equivalent no preservative brand of jam in the shops. We also washed up twice whilst making the jam as we had to do 2 batches in the bread machine.

Shortly we will have warm showers, put on the fire as it is quite cold here already in the mountains and dinner will be long life tinned meat and vegetables and rice so it will be an easy meal after making jam most of the day.

I bet that didn't go over too well, Lazy L. When I'm interviewing new potential employees, I always mention dress code and no cell phones at all. It amazes me how many do not take me seriously.

Cell phones! Another employee was trying the excuse "I don't have the time!" My response, "Yes you do have the time. You just choose to use your time on other things. Try turning off your personnel cell phone when you are on the clock. You'll be amazed how your productivity and value to the company will increase!"

Now I wish public school teachers would do that. The twins science teacher tells them to read on their own and copy down statements on the board. She is on her laptop and cell phone doing personal stuff. We tried to get her fired (with proof!) when our youngest daughter was in middle school 10 years ago. No go. She is tenured. At our private school it's grounds for firing.

Was supposed to watch grand daughter Estelle, but when I got over there found out it was the wrong day.
They want me to rest as this weekend will be the bad one:
Off today, half day Tuesday, full days Wednesday,Thursday,Friday,Saturday,Sunday, Monday,Tuesday then repeat.
So planted transplants Zucchini( Black Beauty), Cucumbers(Burpless Straight Eight)
Put up the trellis for them.
Planted another Tomato (Little Tami) plant grape or cherry depending on size.
Planted Asparagus in whiskey barrel.
Took pictures of new raised beds I would like to have soon.
Sent both sons pictures(Mother's Day) is coming.
Decided not to plant potatoes this year.
I only eat about 5 pounds a year.
Not worth my time or space in garden.
Planted green beans; nothing yet, but it's dry and windy here.
Water several times a day just so everything gets a good start.
Thinking about a nap actually.
