We name areas of our property so that we know where we're talking about. Some of the names: coyote corner, bear canyon, badger flat, jack knife hill aka skid mark hill, rabbit corner, dead woman hill, camp site (from the olden days) etc.
you guys have so much imagination LOL, naming cars , sewing machines and even property areas! I have a hard time just coming up with names for the animals ...( goats are mostly names after trees or Bollywood )
Our pastures are named: pasture A , B , C , D and E , backyard and side of road and next to son's house LOL

After animal care today cleaning the house. Tomorrow is winter solstice, so I am cleaning and putting some green stuff in the house. Couldn't find any cheap tree, actually very very few trees for sale this year, we only saw 1 lot in front of the Rural king that's it. None of the actual stores have any
That;s ok, we have cedars and I will just cut some branches off
It is supposed to snow later today but it's not that cold yet. Tomorrow it is supposed to get really cold again
Called the wood supply guy and his equipment is broken again , but we are not out completely , just getting low. Son and husband cut some yesterday

I guess I just say where I'm talking about to the thing that's there...by the roundtop, by the big turkey run, the older turkey run, the milkhouse...
We have 4 barns, and I was thinking about how I talk about them, so it's old wood barn, big metal barn, hay barn, and open barn.
I'll be home today, so cooking and cleaning for sure. Maybe some Christmas cookies. It's going to be a cold one today, so I'll keep the fire going.

I'm like you. On the farm we had "Over South" for anything south of the creek, "The Pit" for anything near the old gravel pit, "The Home Place" and "The West Place" for the two residences, and "The Triangle" for the the brushy patch that was shaped like...a triangle.

We did name vehicles. When I was a small kid our car was a gold '71 Impala called "Old Gold". My first car was a brown '78 Malibu. I called it "The Boo" if my mom was in the room. I called it "The Turd" if she was out of earshot...

Sitting in the waiting room at the cancer center. Surgeon will review ct scan and hopefully schedule the surgery soon. Dad has a lot of discomfort and pain. Also a lot of difficulty swallowing so meals have been fun. He’s lost about 20 pounds since early September. He’s at his boot camp weight now.

Tried the Ensure shakes and he says they are for old people. Sick of soup and scrambled eggs.

We also made the decision to skip the trip to south Jersey for Christmas with the dozen cousins. I’m glad about that. Too far to drive with someone not quite up to it and the noise factor. I love my family but some times they are too much.

Animal chores finally done, and the hydrants were froze over, so I had to haul house water out. I think I got my walking in for the day. Reloaded fire wood on the porch, inside, and also inside kindling. Pup is happy to warm his butt inside today. Husband feeling so so. Was actually talking about using our two free tickets to see Homestead at the theatre. Then he said maybe after Christmas. Cleaning and cooking today still left to do. And laundry.

so...I baked a Yule log....and just tossed the entire thing into the trash LOL
The cake turned out just fine but I forgot to roll it before it got cold ( too many things to do) and in the meantime I made the buttercream ( german style with pudding in it) and it seperated. I should have checked the temperature of butter and pudding, they have to be the same or it won't work. So in the trash it went...starting over in a little bit. Will do the pile of dishes first
I very seldom bake something that's crap, but today I did...

We just put all the animals up, it's sleet and rain outside and supposed to get really cold again

Did clean the house and one more load of laundry to do then I am done , well except the cake

I'd quit baking for the day! Are you really going for #3 @sonya123 ?

I need to get busy....I have a lot to do and I'm not getting much done!! I need to clean the ashes out of the wood stove, put some laundry away, set up our vitamins, vacuum, feed critters, take Bear for a walk, and probably something else if I look at my list! Hubby didn't get the branch cut down that hanging in the fence. If he gets home with enough time before dark we will take care of the fence. The gas pole saw isn't running, so he'll whack it down with the 12" Echo, he's tall, he can cut it off high enough!! So I'm off to get some things done.......

I think you are right...I just had a drink ( tried somethinge new, Wild Turkey, Ginger ale and cranberry juice woooheee, I can feel it!!)

I am currently making some Cuban sandwiches , so that;s technically "baking' but I think I will wait until tomorrow to make another cake. I don't mind making the cake, but I sure don't want to do any more dishes!!!

Brought mom home from the physical therapy center. That was an ordeal but successful. Bought more storage bins while I was in town. Several of my old bins are still solid but the plastic darkened with age. At a glance I can’t see what’s in them and even though the bins are solid the lids are all broken. Noticed this week bins are on sale at several stores… time to buy new bins.

Spent the afternoon re-organizing the tool room. Tossing out items I no longer recognize or remember why I saved them.

Added a shelf, cut plywood to span the gap between shelf units. Instant shelf! Had one, added another. Think there's another piece of plywood up at the shop, if so I'll make a 3rd shelf.

Keep the Wild Turkey open, I'm on the way!!😃

Another nice day in the rut! Going to work then coming home! Cooler today, I might really work on cleaning the big storage shed!🤔😉
I don’t think this shed really exists. I think it’s just one of those things you tell people in order to get out of things. “Can you stopped bu the store?” Nope have to clean my shed. There’s a gathering of boring people who have invited you to join- sorry I have to clean the shed.

Took a day off more or less (always have stuff I chip away at everyday) Anyway the wife and I took a drive of about 150 miles and took some photos and I practiced not flying my little drone into trees... We drove 150 miles and crossed the continental divide and the only traffic control we delt with was a couple of stop signs and a slow deer...
After seeing my photo I am ever gratefull to live in montana . This is the Missouri river that various towns use for their water supply at times.....

And share your system for organizing?
I will put it over in the garden thread (but not tonight) 😬

@Peanut. Glad you got Mom home before Christmas. I know they keep you hoppin’ but glad they’re both home. (Your mom and dad together)

Found the kitchen floor. Got things ready to make gingerbread houses tomorrow (to decorate Sunday). Baked two loaves of SD bread. Will do rolls tomorrow. Trying to finish my mom’s gift 😬

I caught up on some rest today. Slept in and played some hidden object games. Offered to cook for Mom but she said she wasn't feeling well and she'd made herself a sandwich. She's got some kind of viral crud-- runny nose, coughing, sore throat. Hope it will pass soon. I got her Mucinex, cough drops, throat drops, and brother is making some chicken soup.

Sorry to hear that @zannej .
that virus was making the rounds here about 5 weeks ago and many people had it. I am still coughing! A doctor told me the cough just drags on and on for most people. I had a fever with mine. Hope your mom feels better very soon.
Yeah, LadyLocust, isn't it funny we've never seen a photo of the "shed"?

Ugh. I hope you get feeling better soon. Constant coughing can really suck. My best friend is also sick-- said it's some kind of sinus crud. I still wear a mask when I go out (partially because it keeps my face warm in the cold but also because it keeps me from touching things and touching my nose/mouth, which is something I do subconsciously). I've sneezed into the mask quite a few times and the mask has caught the snot so it didn't get all over.

Just had some chicken soup and it was good.
