I'm hearing there are still school districts around here closed due to illness (flu), and many nursing homes are on lockdown! Are your area schools back open @Amish Heart ??
They didn't close where little granddaughter goes. And they really should have. Last Wednesday night she was feeling bad, a bit bad Thursday morning, so I kept her home. Then the bus driver called me and said 80 kids were out sick (half the middle school), also a ton out of the elementary and high school. So I told her she had to stay home Friday, too, even tho she was fine. She texted a friend from band last night, and his mom sent him to school on Friday and he got sick yesterday, so now he's home. Glad I didn't send her, but hope it's cleared out today. She normally stays pretty healthy, but since going to school in this other town, I worry because they don't do outside time and the food is all ultra processed. It's just not healthy all day like that. But our grade school in our town closed down last year. I did hear that other districts in Kansas did close down.

We keep adding solar, and our electricity consumption went way down, but the bill remains the sam
Well, that's not right!

Slept late this morning as I was awake every our until 3 this morning. I'm guessing MSG in what I ate yesterday for lunch.
Will make cheesecake crust in a few minutes.
Then walk.
Come home and make and bake cheesecake.
Do laundry.
Pick up my bag from a friend. Left it in her van yesterday.

It is, and they give me money! 😉
Come on over Pearl, I could do with you :) you'll get your own room, and I'll cook for you. The exchange rate is almost equal too

Its bloody mental here, with people coming and going and me trying to get everything back to normal after the storm. Got back from the family event yesterday, I'm now a week behind my studies, other adult son received a autism diagnosis, haven't had time it discuss it yet but there is a lot to consider going forward. American relations here for another week. Did the shopping this morning, now I'm confident the power is staying on; supermarket working flat out to refill shelves but a good bit missing. Went to the cheapest one, bought 4 days milk, bread and veg, and a few other things for the whole week, like cheese/yogurts etc. But no meat- €120 it cost- that used to be my whole weeks shopping! On the good side, sold an extra piece of furniture we had, and got all the washing done. Watching all that's going on in the world, and expecting snow/ storms next week.

Just sitting here watching it snow. I'll go out in a few and start shoveling the steps and snowblowing our pathways. Storm warnings have been posted for a couple more feet of snow today and tomorrow. With more snow continuing through Friday. I'm not even going to try clearing our road until this storm is over. It takes time, but the big snowblower can eat through several feet of snow. I might regret this, but I decided not to put the tracks on the side by side, just chains instead.

I don't know, sounds a little wild over there right now! I have a better idea!! I'll come, but we will take off on a gal's week vacation instead!! I bet we'd have a lot of fun!!😉

Ok, laundry is done! Plus I moved my prescription to the pharmacy in the other town so we can avoid at least some of the driving.
Other good thing, I started up my Yukon that has been sitting since December and much to my surprise it started right up. Drove it down the mountain and back up.
It feels nice to be a non dirty house. It was getting really bad.
Things are slowly getting back to some sort of normal after the deep freeze just in time for the next disaster

Husband's eye doc done, his meds are screwing up his eyes, so not much to do about it right now. Picked up 500 lbs of feed and did the pharmacy pickup. That feed store was low on feed, and no sunflower to be had. Little granddaughter helped me unload and stack. Time to cook some dinner. I was nixxed on the leftovers, so it's steak, sweet potatoes, and green beans tonight.

It quit snowing for about 30 mins today. Looks like it'll snow all night. The weather girl says up to 3 feet at our elevation. We'll see.
Got a phone call from the lumber yard today saying my order of 1×12's is in. I asked them to drop it off in town for me tomorrow.
We're supposed get a break in the weather on Thursday. I'll try to get the road open by then and go pic it up.

Cleaned up a lot of the leaves finally. Got a leaf machine, I guess it works okay but my hands didn't like it. There's a guy that stopped by yesterday to see if I wanted his services for cleaning up the leaves and what not. I said no, he wanted too much ($75, $80 - did I already mention this?); he stopped by again today to see if he could take my bags of leaves away but the city takes them. I might end up having him come back and finish the front yard, clean the gutter on the front, get all the leaves on both sides of the house. He's not a kid but he's young.
That's a pretty sight, @Mountain trapper

up early , have places to go today. Going to town for some physical therapy on my foot, doctor sent me there last year and I am finally getting around to it, cancelled first appointment because our road was full of ice
Going shopping too, I wonder what prices will look like. Going to fill up the Traverse today. It's not the biggest , but you can fit a lot of stuff in and we already got feed last week with the truck
But going to fill up the propane again, getting more chicken feed ( we got 1500 lbs for the goats and sheep) , and going to stock up on plastic stuff I will need for the market like plastic wrap and parchment paper

And I am absolutely dreading next week!!! Looked at the weather and it looks horrible all next week, like a foot of snow and more cold. Yuck. Ordered son some snow cables for his car. They are not exactly chains but his car does not have a lot of clearance on the tires so that will have to do. I hope they will get here in time. He might not have to go to work but he doesn't know yet what is expected of him. Usually if there is a foot of snow , there is no construction going on....

Something weird happened with the walmart pharmacy too. I have a prescription for magnesium and they told me in December it was backordered. I still had some so I didn't worry about it and it's not anything critical I have to have every day. So now when I transfered it to the other pharmacy, that one told me that I just got a 90 day supply in December, which I didn't. Weird. Not sure what I should do about it. But they will give me another one

After breakfast I'm going to dig out the big snow plow for the tractor. Strange weather here. Last night it warmed up to 31 degs so now the snow is too wet for the snowblower, it'll just plug up. There could be too much snow for the plow too, well see.
They're calling for up to another 15 inches today plus possile rain. At least it starts cooling off tomorrow again. That'll help.

Going to work then running a few errands and going to Walmart! A little cool front has edged through so just a nice 70° today. Will trim Buddy's hooves later.
I did the little goat bucks hoofs yesterday. They looked bad ( but not rotten so ok) . I can't do it when it is really cold out , can't be done with winter gloves on

This morning I need to get over wanting a drink. I've been out of work for too long.... restless.... rant. I'm gonna get 1/2 a pint and get over it. That'll remind me why I quit, then I'll take care of some pain in ass business. I got enough done at home, for now.
dont do it.....you got this.....PLEASE DONT....I BEG YOU...GO FORWARD...KEEP HAVING VICTORY !!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you don't. Our daughter who just finished her month in rehab, lasted only a few days dry out of rehab. Her sis says she's drunk in bed, turned her phone off. She did 2 outpatient group sessions, and that's it.

Husband has his biologic shot appt today, so back to the bigger town. Will be picking up my favorite cousin late afternoon, and she'll be going with us to Uncle Melvin's viewing.

I know it's easy for us to say DON'T DO IT, but don't do it!!

A chain of events kinda pilled-up on me. Quitting alcohol wasn't a fix-all, but it certainly helped. The last couple months has been a learning experience. First and most importantly: Being a non-drinker doesn't fix everything, it's just a big step in the right direction. In knowing I don't need alcohol and I am better off without it.... is just the beginning. Now: I have new 'quit date' .... I just polished-off 1/2 a pint. I'll take what I've learned and not end-up here again.

The "here again" part is: giving the finger to the world and getting drunk and wasting the opportunity to live life and enjoy it. I mean life is a gift that shouldn't be wasted.
