So frustrated with whatever this breathing issue is. I am very skeptical it was/is Covid at this point. Started about a week after starting new vitamins. Detoxing off them as it was high levels of a lot of different vitamins. More than I was taking. Time will tell I guess but sure doesn’t seem like Covid at all. Would like to get to feeling better though.

So many people nowadays not going to church at all.
This is true. And so many people didn't grow up going to church. Some people tell me that they went to Christmas services and some went to Easter services. A friend raised her children in church, like I did, and none of our children attend church. If my daughter has something going on, she will ask me to pray for her or something.

One of the things relative to church services and COVID is when Easter Sunday came around. Some of the big churches had services because they are money makers. Without services, some had less income.

I think that if everyone showed up for services at my church, that we would be pretty full, whereas there is a lot of space, and not all that bad during COVID. The attendance and finances had this church with a half time pastor for a few years, until another church volunteered to pay for the other half of a full time pastor's salary.

@Weedygarden sadly many churches are dying. My hometown has 4 churches. 3 are wasting away. The 4th is the one I attended growing up,, and it has increased. People from the other churches have switched because of the liberal doctrines forced on them (the Lutheran churches) or because of the loss of vibrant leadership (the Methodist church). It's sad, really. All those churches were strong when I was a kid. There's a country church 5 miles from dad's farm. They are down to 15-20 attendees on Sundays, and their pastor is in his 70s. I know him well, and he's a good man of strong faith, but he's not actually educated as a pastor. He moved to an acreage near that church over 30 years ago and just kind of stepped in when their last pastor left, and another pastor ordained him. When he can no longer do it, I expect that church to fold as well...

That's common in the bigger town near us, for the smaller churches, to have the pastor working half time and they have another job somewhere else. With our menno church for sale, we don't have any other churches in our town. The amish meet in homes. The mennos that used to go to that church are now meeting in homes, too, but husband thinks that's weird.

I believe this is true all over America, and probably other parts of the world as well. My home town used to have 11 churches, and they were packed on Sundays. I think there are 5 active churches now. But population keeps declining and school districts are combining because they don't have enough students for football teams, etc. Classes used to graduate 50+ students and now are closer to 20.

Churches that meet in homes is actually not uncommon in some places. I've known people who do home church with a couple or a few families. I think this might be true in China. I often think of my ancestors, who homesteaded around 1880. They lived many miles from their church. No cars, so it probably took a day to drive a team of horses to church and back, maybe even creating a need to stay overnight. But then, who was taking care of the farm, feeding the animals?

When my great grandfather came to Iowa, as a carpenter part of his living was building churches. Sometimes he would build churches for multiple denominations in the same town. Out in the country there was a church every few miles. Before 1900 there were two within two miles of dad's farm, plus two more a few miles south. So it was no trouble for people to hitch up the wagon and take the family on Sundays.

"Back in the day" my dad was a lay minister and would travel to surrounding areas because there weren't enough ministers.
@Double R that sounds bad. Could it be the start of asthma? I hope you can get through it quickly.

I don’t think so. It’s interesting. All stats are normal. Lungs clear. Just seems like a heavy weight on my ribs is best I can explain it. Worse when I stand up and start moving. Zero congestion. No fever. No abnormal lung sounds. Headache is gone and responded to excedrine when i had it and grumbly tummy stopped as soon as I stopped the extra vitamins. Antihistamines don’t seem to have to much effect on it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I sometimes miss going to church. We used to go every Sunday , Bible study also. But, I no longer have faith , it just went away over the years, plus I get anxiety in church ( THAT was part of why my faith went away) . Now we live too far away to go to a church I would feel comfortable at. Used to be LCMS Lutheran, then we went to a large Anglican one just because I liked their service. It was very old fashioned , felt like we were in the middle ages , incense and all. I liked it but my faith did not return, and my anxiety stayed. Husband didnt want to go by himself, kids no longer wanted to go at all, so we stopped.
A few years ago one of our former Amish now Church of Christ neighbors invited us to an outside tent church service. I was thinking maybe my anxiety wouldn't be there since it is outside, and I really wanted to go. We were planning on it. That day I had my horrible accident and ended up getting helicoptered to the nearest big hospital. It was definitely a sign to me.

Cold today, but it warmed up and rained yesterday so most of the snow is gone
We need to go get propane tanks refilled at some point this week and I need to start sorting through our tax stuff.
Son now has the cold

Heading to the doctor this morning for one of those might be nothing, but might also be a big deal kind of things... (sudden hard lump developed in an uncomfortable area). One of those days I really wish they didn't have medical info on the internet so you couldn't see the rare, but worst case scenarios. I really thought it would have gone away on it's own when I made the appointment a week ago, but it's still here and causing me some significant pain. Glad I have a great doctor who will listen to you and is curious enough to get to the root cause of the problem and not just hand you a script for the easiest to solve potential issue. Also got me to update my "hospital bug out bag" I haven't needed forever, but used all the time back in the day when kids were little with asthma. It's got stuff like a change of clothes, toiletries, tablet w/headphones, $20 in singles for the vending machines, etc. Also prompted me to update the worst case list I keep for my beautiful wife with our account numbers, passwords, etc for everything. Amazing how many services we really use/need when you sit down and think about it.

The ironic part of it is that over the last 4 months, I've gotten in the best health I've been since my teens. I'm down 65 lbs, working out every day, eating super clean, "beat" my diabetes, etc. Hopefully that will make whatever the result of this is easier to deal with!

I’ll be thinking of you today, @TeeJ.

Insulation is finished in the new house, and I hope to never deal with insulation again! Lol. No matter how much protection I wear, that stuff gets everywhere. I’m sure I’ll still be cleaning up stray little pieces for awhile…

Pine plank walls going up today!!!

DoubleR, I hope you get feeling better soon.
Teej, I hope the lump is something benign.

Dentist's office woke me up early with a call asking if I wanted to come in early bc they had a cancellation. They forget it takes me over an hour to get there. She realized she'd woken me up and apologized. I said it was ok, but that I wanted to keep my scheduled appointment time as I'm not a morning person.

Then my guts decided they don't like me and I got the runs. Waiting for Pepto Bismol and my allergy meds to kick in. Cats and dogs are piled on me.

My town is not that large but there are over 100 churches but only 2 of them do anything charitable for the community. The one catholic church used to help out but the current priest is a jerk. People used to be able to go in and pray when it wasn't during mass, but he keeps the doors locked up tight and only lets people in for mass. He is not available for any counseling-- he only wants to interact with people during mass. He discontinued all donations (where people would bring stuff to donate to the poor and the church would give it to people in need)-- and this was long before Covid came around. He also canceled Bingo nights. It had been going over 50 years and he decided to cancel it bc he didn't like it. He does the bare minimum & is very rude to people. He's got a very strong foreign accent so people can barely understand him, so most people stopped going to church there.

Thanks for the well-wishes and prayers everyone! Dr. says it doesn't look like any of the really bad options (cancer, hernia, etc.), thinking it looks like an abscess 🤮 - but still wanted a CT scan to check it out. Started me on antibiotics and we'll have the scan results back in a couple of days. If doc is right I'll still get to have a little surgery, which is not great timing for my life right now, but that's how the cookie crumbles :)

We're planing on making a supply run down south tomorrow. Making up a list of tools and parts that I need to pick up.
A few days ago I got 2 letters from the SS office saying that I had a 401k in one of the companies I worked for years ago and a life annuity in another. I thought I cashed them in or rolled them over a long time ago. I'm writing them letters to make sure. This wouldn't be the first time that I forgot about accounts that I had.
Its a sunny and clear day here.

Didn't get anything done on the house today.
Since I finished the kitchen , wife has been want to decorate.
But , that called for a trip to the big town for Hobby Lobby, Menards, Lowe's .

I did get to have lunch at Freddy's.
She did pick up a few things for the kitchen.
She is loving the Old farmhouse deco.

This stuff will be on top of cabinets.

Used Alien tape .
If you haven't tried Alien tape(Nano Tape) , it's awesome stuff.

All in all....good day with my bride.

I know that eastern Iowa is more densely populated than western, but it is still more densely populated than places like South Dakota, so churches would be closer together there. One of my great grandfathers was born in Guttenberg, on the Mississippi River. His family was one of the Catholic families that came over from Bavaria to homestead and settle in the area relative to a bishop who worked to establish a Catholic community in the area. I was in Guttenberg a couple decades ago to assist my daughter with RAGBAI. So many beautiful stone buildings there. The European peasants came over and helped to build the communities and to homestead the land. One of my gg aunts was married to a man who helped build those beautiful buildings in Guttenberg. When homesteads became available, it was my gg grandmother who got one. They were awarded via a lottery, so she got one, and not her husband, but he was probably the one who worked the land.

Actually made some progress on the house today. The wire tracer I borrowed from a neighbor actually worked better than the one I bought and helped me trace the wire I was unsure of. It was the wire i suspected so I made that outlet a single on it's own circuit and marked it so I would know it was it's own 20 amp outlet in the garage. I suspect it will be helpful in the future. Installed the outlets on the last 20 amp circuit in the garage and it works, good deal.
Started installing the outlets in the bedroom and got a couple installed. Tomorrow I will move crap and get the rest of that circuit installed. After that the only circuits are around the kitchen sink and the fire alarms. Fire alarms will be easy, but I had thought the kitchen sink circuit was 15 amp and when I went to install the outlets I noticed they are 20 amp so I need to get 7 20 amp outlets tomorrow to finish that circuit. I know, 20 am in the kitchen is probably overkill but that is what I ran. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
Woke up this morning feeling like crap, blood pressure was rather high, but once I decided to start working on the house again it started to ease up. Kind of a lousy circle, wake up feeling lousy so don't work, wake up feeling lousy so don't work, wake up feeling lousy and force yourself to work and actually start to feel better. But, when you feel like you may drop at any moment it is hard to start working to make yourself feel better.
Maybe tomorrow I can finish the wiring and more on back to the drywall tape and mud.

Sunny but cold today, a little breezy. Today feeding the critters was followed by refilling all the feed bins from the stock pile. I continued inside chores from yesterday.

I tackled my herb/pantry room also. In sept/oct I piled bags of extra food I was buying in the room. I had to bush hog the whole farm, didn't have time for sorting can goods.

Finally there were only a couple spots left to step, couldn't even get to the back corner. Today I got 90% of the items onto shelves. By weight only about 50%. I have an extra 80lbs of rice, 20lbs of dried bean/peas that won't fit on the shelves. I badly need to get rid of the black shelf I use for herbs. It's good for boxes so I'll move it to another room.

I'll have space for two of the tall chrome units afterwards, still have a new outlet I need to wire also.

Sounds like you need to get to the doc, INresponse. Hope you feel better.
Talked to our middle child, our son, in New Mexico. He's holing up, thinks he has covid. Maybe so, but he's thinking he's feeling better this evening, and it's been three days.
Winter is a good time to sort through food storage. We have a few shelves like you do, Peanut, and I keep lighter stuff on it. Heavy stuff goes on the gorilla shelves. You can always put the rice and beans in rubbermaid totes and a couple of them can stack on the floor.

I have not. It’s one of those to do things I’ve not tackled but it’s my 2022 must accomplish list. I’m making it top priority before we need to place a new order. Tired of buying it when I can make it. Another thing I’d like to be more self sufficient with.
I joined a soap making forum recently and wish I hadn’t. I know better than to stray from here. Once I get it worked out I’ll be happy to share details with you. 🤗

It's not difficult. Just be careful with the Lye.

Do you have asthma? That sounds like me before an asthma attack.
