Autopay is helpful unless someone is barely getting by. When you make an oops and something tries to go through on autopay the bank may charge an insufficient funds fee and make things even worse.
True. Autopay helped me to be in a better place financially and helped to raise my credit score into the 800's.

I saw a post about someone struggling to pay their bills. Their cable was about to get shut off because they didn't have the money. My thought, "let your cable be shut off if you cannot afford it." Some people think that cable is a necessity, when it is not. Of course, there are things that are more basic such as water, gas and electric, food.

Daughter had a friend who would get paid. First expense would be a bag of weed. Oh no, not enough money left for rent! Priorities!

A few days ago I bought some new supplements. Magnesium Glycinate, capsules, "Take 4 VegCaps daily with a meal or glass of water."
Even if you were taking them with a meal, how would you take them without a glass of water? Now I understand you could take them with beer or pop, but I also understand it doesn't say how big a glass of water so it could be 4 ounces or 8 ounces or more, but do people really take their supplements without washing them down with water?
Just thought this was a funny bit of directions and didn't realize it until just now even though I wrote it on the label with a marker.. :ghostly:

This is EXACTLY the problem my friend has with autopay. When he let his power company do autopay, they would try to charge him BEFORE the bill was due and his bank sucks so even though he said they weren't allowed to charge until x day, the bank let the and would overdraft his account. Another problem is his work doesn't always pay him on time. Sometimes it takes up to 5 days for his paycheck to go into his account. Another issue is that the power company is overcharging him. The $1,000.09 they charged him was for ONE month. His power bill went from $200 to $400 to $600 then $800 and now $1k. And that $1k is AFTER he already paid $280. Something is seriously wrong with their calculations.

My friend has to pay child support, his daughter's Medicaid insurance, his car insurance, internet bill, phone bill, power bill, and water bill. There's also gas, food, etc. He doesn't have cable tv. He has the lowest internet plan available so he can file for things online that he needs to file. His gf's family's first priority is buying weed though. They smoke at least 3x a day. They are younger than me but are both on social security disability.

I went back into town to help him out on paying the bill so he could get the power turned back on. Good news is, his gf's family are moving out now but I don't know what they are going to do if their power bills are as high as my friend's have been while they've been staying there.

My road was closed again so I had to drive 20 extra miles to take the back road to get home.

My brother just whined at me about dishes in the sink-- most of them are his-- and how I need to clean the sink because it's "disgusting". Well, he needs to pick up trash but I don't see his fat behind doing it. I ignored him.

I am SO tired of hearing that! LOL, don't care if it is true, I am not going to eat that way, so there! I have had a sweet tooth all my life, and I love carbs, could do without meat if I have to. I just had an ice cream cone because I feel like crap and it made me feel better. When I was young in my early 20s I had a candy bar for lunch and nothing else.
Still here so far....
( no diabetes, not much overweight, maybe 10 pounds)
I like things with sugar in them, however I know from experience that sugar feeds Candida and that's not good, I've had extreme pain in joints and muscles because of candida, hard price to pay for sugar loaded treats, not to mention the potential for diabetes down the line.

Part of the problem is that his gf's family have been living there since August without contributing anything toward bills (even though they were no longer paying rent at their trailer). They refused the few times he asked for $ to help him out. His bills weren't so high before they moved in. They got increasingly larger the longer they stayed. The kids leave doors open and leave all the lights and AC running nonstop. He doesn't have central air. But I still think something is wrong with the power company's calculations. So, his gf's family have been able to save up that $ but wouldn't help him and now they are moving in to a new place. They better hope they don't get the super high power bills there.
Friend has already been doing barebones, but he's also had to miss work for an entire month due to his gf's mom giving them Covid, then he had other health issues. He should be on disability because he can't work fulltime with his blood clots. His gf has trouble keeping a job so he is solely the one paying bills and half of his paycheck goes to taxes & his ex. He'd be in better shape if his ex hadn't lied about him not paying child support. She filed ex parte & he was never given a court date to contest it-- claimed he had not supported the child since birth so she got years of back child support. Nevermind he supported her, the kid, and her older kid with her ex. Hell, he supported her & the older kid for years before his kid was born. She also claimed he wasn't paying what court ordered him to pay when he was so they more than doubled his payments, garnish his tax returns, etc. He has filed paperwork to contest the child support amount but the courts have been sitting on it for 3 years.

I assume nothing as 'simple' as belt or bearings? (or something altogether different? Tension-spring?) 🤔

jd

All of the above. Usually what prompts repair is the tension spring breaking. But once I take it apart usually the bearings need work too.

Oddly, the belt seems to last forever.

No cops on that road? Probably one of those stretches where you don't see many cars, so no cops either.
There are roads out here with a speed limit of 90. One that runs up along the TX-Mexico border. Hwy 90 I think...

So I pulled the trigger on a custom made dog box for the Landshark.
Yep, it's made to be on the back of a ute - which is Australian for truck,.
Yep, it's expensive BUT when I tally the 4 heavy duty crates Landshark has destroyed I'm coming out ahead.
Also that isn't factored in the amount of electronics, carpeting, furniture - sofas and armchairs, bedding, cushions, pillows, plumbing- YES Plumbing, and appliances she destroyed once she got out of the crate.
This will be kept in my lounge room and it does look strong enough to hold a raptor.
Those latches and hinges are going to get a work out.

I remember when she killed your bathroom, Tank. That was wild.
Didn't know some of the half a cow was coming late afternoon today, so I spent time cleaning out two freezers and playing Tetris with the put back. The steaks are being aged and coming later, but I was brought 120 lbs of hamburger and 3 large roasts. Processing fee was $500 so we paid half. We'll see how many steaks when they come.

People keep telling me to put her down but with manure rapidly sliding into the fan having a aggressive canine when you're a small gimp female might make up for ALL of the headaches she causes.
I haven't had the crackheads next door set a foot in the yard since she matured.
I really need to get her fitted with special kevlar vests that they fit the pig catching dogs with so she can earn her keep catching pigs for me.
It's what she was bred to do.

We did good on our last half cow as well. The Princess got another freezer for it.

From what I understand... for what that is worth. .

They more comfortable in their own well defined space.

Got up , went to Kay's Kitchen for an awesome breakfast .
Came home, burned a bunch of cardboard boxes and packing junk, picked up some limbs from front yard to burn , put a new steering wheel , micro fiber/leather , cover on the truck. Had to use a crowbar.

Installed a new 110 outlet in basement( on Crete wall , using tapcons), for Helitech , when they come.
Helped wife put decorations on top of cabinets.

Then installed new crown mold in big bathroom.

Gonna install new baseboard in big bathroom tomorrow.
I will be 100% done with big bathroom.

Hope I'm totally done with the inside work on the house when Spring arrives.

I'm tired.

Y'all rest well tonight.

Jim

Our job site is just a few miles from Naval Air Station El Centro. That's the winter base for the Blue Angels air show squadron. Today at work we saw them practicing. It's amazing how close together they fly and move in perfect unison...
They will be doing a show at the nearest airport this year. Looking forward to seeing them again.

@Tank-Girl just happened to think of Sentry. He had 3 rottweilers and wrote about getting used tires for them to chew on and play with. Any tired animal naps.

Putting together a big internet order. Dad had a “swivel sweeper”, looks like a dust mop but has a rechargeable battery. They don’t make his model anymore so I have to order him the “new and improved” model, don’t know if I’ll get it. The big internet box store says it’s in stock…

Decided I might as well get myself a few odd and ends while ordering. I’ve started play music again and have only one set of new strings left. In these perilous times, might order several sets. I need a few other items also.

Went to check on the calf after dark, took him an apple. His water tub was knocked over, he’s been getting a little frisky since he’s been getting all the feed he wants.

So, I carried 14g of water, filled it up again. About 40 outside, a little cool.

Just watching tv tonight.

Last time I saw them one crashed right in front of us at NAS Kingsville, TX.

Did some shopping at Costco today to beef up our prep food supplies. As foods get a few months away from their expiration date, we sometimes donate them to our church (which always has a room where you can leave stuff for the needy). Sometimes we keep the older stuff as well - canned food lasts long past its expiration date, it just loses a bit of flavor sometimes. Not that canned foods have much flavor in my opinion. Then we replenish the donated stuff at Costco. It's pretty cheap to buy 12-packs of canned corn, green beans, tuna, chili, beans, sardines, and stuff like that. So that's what I did today. Also bought a bunch of meats. Hamburger, cod, tilapia, pork, chicken, steaks, ... You have to buy those in such large quantities at Costco that I spent a decent chunk of the day after getting home breaking the large packages up into smaller lots and doing vacuum sealing, weighing, labeling and freezing. I got most of that done, but still some fish in the refrigerator that will have to wait until tomorrow. I don't want to ever see a vacuum sealer again after this.

I picked up a set of chains for my side by side. Normally I put tracks on the side by side for winter but they interfere with the snow blower. Plus I have a hard time getting up my driveway in the steep areas with the tracks. I'm looking for some studs that I can screw in to the tracks for added traction.
Tomorrow I'm going to order a new drive wheel for my walk behind blower. I'll probably get an extra one for a spare.
I ordered propane and off-road diesel to be delivered. Our road is in good shape but there are a couple areas that are too narrow for the fuel trucks. I'll get the tractor out tomorrow and push the snow over the bank in the worst places.
