snappy, $1100 sounds insane! But, as LadyLocust said it's cheaper than replacing structures.

LadyLocust, I hope the windshield replacements go well.

Dade, Ouch. Hope you heal quickly. I'm giggling about the "hump them up and down the stairs" bit because it's Wednesday. Humpday! LOL. Mike Mike! Guess what day it is!? Anyway, Loved that Monty Python skit.

I decided to do some inbox cleanup of my e-mail. Something glitched and it deleted 10k messages, but that was a good thing. I'd gone through e-mails from 2018 to 2021 to delete them and still needed to delete from 2022 to current. But I also had to make sure I didn't delete anything I wanted to keep and that I marked certain things as spam. My e-mail only lets me see about 25 emails per page. I can't select the e-mails from more than one page at a time. So I had to delete 25 at a time. After 10k were deleted I still had at least 2k left to delete. (On another forum I mistakenly thought it was 10 per page but I just checked another folder to confirm the number).

My inbox looks so barren. LOL.
Z I'm laughing because Hubby's inbox has as many as it will hold too. He never deletes emails. My inbox has maybe a dozen all of which are something I am working on or something in progress like an order that hasn't arrived yet. I also empty the "trash" for emails.

@Amish Heart Dating and putting away takes more time than shopping does!

I went to Wings Over the Rockies museum today. It's an aviation museum. Lots of neat stuff to see there. I was surprised as the size of many of the fighter jets. The F-14, the F-4 ... they were a lot bigger than I had imagined. The B-1A bomber was huge, as was the B-52. One really neat one was an old B-18 bomber. I was not familiar with that plane. They had an X-Wing and a Pod racer from Star Wars too.

During my 'trucking daze' I'd occasionally stop to refuel in Tye, TX, west of Abilene, and the B-1B bombers would practically buzz the truck stop as the planes took off from nearby Dyess AFB... the first time I saw one, I was on the intercom with a fuel clerk, and I interrupted myself to ask her, "HOLY CR@P!!! WAS THAT A B-1 BOMBER?" Lol... that's how close the planes were... loud too, since they weren't that high yet.

I was installing ties on a track between Palmdale/Lancaster and Mojave, California 7 or 8 years ago. Our equipment is extremely loud and normally you can't hear anything over the noise and you're wearing earplugs. One morning I didn't so much hear a B1 as I felt it. It was maybe 500 feet high and 300 or 400 yards to our left. After the initial rumble, the air seemed to crackle for a second or two.

A few minutes later, we heard bombs dropping. Apparently there's an Air Force gunnery range out there. Even though we couldn't see where the explosions were, the concussion was like a jolt to the spine. I hope I never hear a boom like that ever again...

Me too and I'm joining the whine fest.

I tried to get up and out by six to beat the heat but we were socked in by smoke. I had/have fruit trees and bushes to plant. I got five in by wearing a wet bandana. Shades of covid but you could see it.

I still need to do something about making a patchwork garden. My seed potatoes from last year are in the fridge in a somewhat holding pattern and it's too hot to plant and its a variety not available this year.

Took an indoor siesta at 11am and started cleaning the coop so I can get my chick's out of the house. Got hit by the lazy bug and went in to read and cool down and breath. Spent the evening burning dinner and pulling wads of hair out of four big dogs.

This day sucked and tomorrow will be just like it.

Pearl, Clem & Patchouli, I hope tomorrow (well, technically later today) goes well.

Need to get bloodwork in the morning and can't eat until afterward but stomach is rumbling & my brain doesn't want to let me sleep.

Two doc appts for husband today, so two separate trips into the bigger town. One with the pulmonologist, the other with the infectious disease doc, and crossing all my fingers and toes that the infusions can stop now. I will join the whine fest and say that four weeks is too long for me to be seriously sleep deprived and not even know what I'm doing anymore..
Today is little granddaughter's last day of school, so she'll be home half day. The bus driver is taking them all out for ice cream cones before dropping them off.

It has been a while for me. Sort of busy, sort of lazy. Anyways, a couple days ago on the way to work at Home Depot I stopped at Lowes and bought one more kitchen cabinet for the garage. Lowes still has unfinished Oak cabinets and they are made better that HD's version. Plus I always add corner blocks and other extras to make them stronger because none of the store bought cabinets are of any any decent quality. I also bought two cans of blue spray paint and it is halfway ready to be mounted to the wall. I will add one more 8 foot section of plywood workbench/counter top and end the work bench about 6 or 8 inches past the last cabinet. That will give me a decent place to mount a vice on the end of the workbench, properly reinforced of course.
I took an unexpected day trip to Las Vegas Sunday to meet up with a friend who was there for the weekend for a not so pleasant reason. Enjoyed the day, helped her run a couple errands, spent a couple hours at the pool so I could get my first sunburn of the year (Sicilian so it will be a good tan in a few more days), visited the Mob Museum for an interesting tour but neither of us saw anything with either of our relative but we both recognized a few names, and had a great dinner at Andiamo's Italian restaurant at The D Hotel/Casino. Oh my, the steak with the The Oscar was absolutely delicious. Some sort of topping made with butter, egg yolks and crab meat. I gotta learn how to make that because I just can't stop drooling. After far too many years of living in Vegas I normally don't like being there but we had a relaxing day, even though our many walks up and down Fremont Street Experience were surrounded by complete lowlife, yucky dressed, dirtbags and a bunch of high on vagrants. The hotels and businesses are all very nice but walking up and down Fremont Street trying to find anything interesting was less than ideal. Vegas used to be a nice area but it is now a disgusting dung heap anywhere outside of the hotels/casinos.

Spring is finally hear, last Saturday I stated prepping my drip irrigation and sprinklers for the yard and began watering a few areas, but I haven't set up the water timers yet because we have a couple more weeks of possible overnight freezing temps. 4 years ago we had 3 inches of snow on the kids last day of school. Depending on the weather report I might hook everything up this weekend. Can I trust the weather morons prediction?

As for work at the HD, one loser was canned last night and today (8 hours ago my time for night shift) a new guy started and judging by the looks and personality I think he will be a good addition to our overnight crew. I knew the last few were losers and they have proven themselves, but only one enough to finally get canned. I still enjoy my job at HD and the pay is good but I am still considering other options due to the overwhelming cast of lowlifes they keep hiring. It gets annoying doing a "normal" amount of good work while lowlifes get the same pay to mess things up. Yesterday I got the idea to talk to the owner of a motorcycle/ATV repair shop owner in my neighborhood and ask about me working for him. If the pay is decent it will be worth a pay cut because it is 26 miles one way to HD and the repair shop would be a daytime gig instead of overnights. I don't have much experience on motorcycles or ATV's but I have maintained my own for many years and have plenty of experience on automotive stuff so I should be able to pick it up pretty quick.

Anyways, that has been my life for the past week or so in a nutshell. I hope all ya'all are doing well. I am one beer away from a shower and bed time. Sweet dreams to me and I hope you all have a great day.

Today I will plow some land to plant a small garden on Saturday. Today is the day I've set aside to plow some land in preparation for my small garden project this coming Saturday. I'm excited to get started and see how everything turns out. I'll make sure to take my time and do it right so that I can enjoy the fruits of my labor for months to come. It's going to be a lot of hard work, but I'm up for the challenge!

Rain in the forecast, so this is a good day to catch up on laundry & vacuuming... otherwise, I'm gonna PAR-TAY here at the ol' hacienda! Last night's rain gives me a good excuse, lol... not that I actually NEED one, since I'm the "home moaner" here in the Alamo boondocks. The deed to the property is in my name, so I'll call the shots, 10-4? I'm thinking of watching some entertainment later, and possibly reading a Western at some point. Got plenty of leftover steak for a sandwich, plus one last breakfast burrito which I may eat in a few moments, lol. Round here, a "breakfast burrito" is simply regular burrito mix with scrambled eggs dumped into it, lol. Guac and sour cream on top, with some habanero sauce drizzled over everything! Works for me!

Need to take my truck back by the shop to see if they can figure out what's going on with my A/C, also go by and check the P.O. Box, get another bag of feed for the jersey heifer, call the feed store that was supposed to be ordering organic chick, dairy and alfalfa feeds for me and see if they ever came in. Figure out a way to get the half-grown chicks out of their tank without any flying out because I really need to clean their tank, it's really gross.

Typical day here. I break it up between; repairing the fence (about 2 more miles to go), tilling the garden, equipment maintenance, dragging the pastures, planting oats, wheat, barley and dry land grass mix. Burned some brush yesterday and planted some concord grape plants. Have 5 fruit trees to plant when it cools down tonight, it's about 62 degs right now.

Took my old FLH out for the day. This is her 47th year.

Sold some more chatty cathy stuff online this week. Made a decent amount. I can buy a new washer with my earnings but I have made over $600 for the year so I will need to hold back a bit for this years taxes. I hate that new law! It use to be several grand. I never made near that from my online sales (never tried to make a business out of it). Now I just want to purge what I don't need anymore.

Got a new battery for my old macbook pro. I upgraded the ram from 4gb to 16gb while I was in there replacing things. I haven't tested the speed out yet as I am waiting for the battery to have a full charge. I really do prefer that laptop to the newer macbook air I got in 2019. The pro is my workhorse. I also ordered a new ssd as a backup with 2T memory. I already have one for the air but I like having designated drives for each computer. Now I need to get the imac upgraded and set up with a new keyboard and mouse. Still need a ssd for that one. Yeah, I'm a mac nut. The costuming software I used for work only runs on a mac os. I have a pc laptop but haven't used it in years. Not even sure I remember the login.

Dealing with this 'super-bloom' pollen allergy. I can't go outside for too long without my eyes watering and sneezing. K is also dealing with this as are the kids. No fun.

Need to get my butt in gear and get the wagon listed for sale.
We bought a MacBook Pro a few years back, it's the best computer we've ever owned, anything Windows was becoming very distressful, I'm thoroughly grateful to not have to deal with that anymore.

My charter fishing trip went good.
Everyone caught their limit of rock fish.
There were 11 of us on the boat and I was the only one to pay to crab.
I got all the crab that was caught. I brought home 10 Dungeness crab so it was a big win for me.:D
The cost works out like this.
$125 for 10 fish filets and 10 crab.
Crab is selling locally for about $22 per crab.

I didn't eat after 8:30pm last night (I normally will eat after midnight bc I usually take my meds around 11pm to midnight & can't eat for 30min to an hour after to keep the meds effective). Went to get my blood drawn this morning and was told I can't get it taken until July & blood can only be drawn every 4 months. I was too tired and hungry to argue so I went and grabbed McDonalds.

I see Mom emerging from her room. She probably wants food.

Of course my A/C decides to work all day and the check engine light went away on it's own  got hit with a huge wave of grief so couldn't get everything done that I wanted to today. Just have to keep reminding myself that it's only been 2 weeks since he died 💔

I worked from 3am to noon thirty today. I was wiped out so I crashed when I got back to the hotel. At 4 I was awakened by a call from my brother. A farmer down the road from my pops, who was our neighbor for 50 years and my best friend's step dad, pulled his side by side into a field driveway at the property line between his field and pop's field and shot himself at dawn this morning. He was about to retire and hand the reins over to his youngest son.

It doesn't affect me so much, I wasn't especially close to him. But this is a huge shock to our community. Jack was a board member for the REC and chief of the local VFD for years. He was also heavily involved in local politics as an old school conservative Democrat. I'm at a loss for words right now. His family is our main concern.

The day took a different turn than expected! The blacksmith had to cancel. Ended up with a new client. A cousin of one of my favorite little ladies. He's a recent widower, has a small cattle farm. Not too far from my place, at least not all the way into town. Thunderstorms came close, but didn't make it. Got to have a few cold ones on the pool float! Heading to bed shortly, Looking forward to morning coffee!!

4 weeks ago tonight I arrived at the folk school event (4days in heaven). Hoped I would recover in two weeks. Nope, that didn’t happen. This week I’ve finally turned the corner to get back to normal. Not there yet but able to think at a higher level which is always a good thing.

This week I got a new window ac, got it installed and weather proofed. Went to the big town yesterday, a major shopping day, even got 2 trays of pepper plants during a lighting storm. It was impressive, I saw a dozen lighting bolts in about 20min. Several were close enough I felt the boom inside my truck while driving.

Today was a big laundry day along with putting stuff away. My baggage from the folk school was still sitting where I dropped it, some still in the living rm. I simply haven’t had the energy, til today. Now that I can see the floor again… I got about half the mopping done but got all the area rugs vacuumed.

Have to get my plants set out tomorrow, probably in between rain showers, it’s rained for 3 days. Flash flooding and storm warnings every evening. Well, at least I won’t have to water my plants after I set them out in mud.

I've begun my annual clear out. All the chores I can't get to I do now when on a break. Yesterday myself and two of the kids who finished up college cleaned out the hen house, wheelbarrowed a ton of bark mulch around the cabin husband built last year, emptied a compost bin and weeded. That on top of taking youngest to her driving test, which she failed..sigh... Anyway it rained in the afternoon, so I started cleaning up my workroom / attic. I've put clothes up on a site for sale that I never wear- that takes ages, photographing everything, and will do the same with some craft things. I also move furniture around a lot, to my families amusement. Hoping to get some walls washed and painting done over the next few months, but paint has gotten incredibly expensive here. I've watered the poly this morning and baked muffins, made two jars of mixed berry jam from a few strawberries picked yesterday and random berries I found in the freezer. Plan on working on my Masters application and continuing with the clear out.

Yesterday was a long day between a 10 hour day at work and a 3 hour commute by the time I got home there just wasn't much left.

Leaving now to do the grocery shopping, then plan to work out doors for a few hours. I have a couple work related calls I have to make, but they are to folks on the west coast so I will do that after lunch (they don't like it if I call while it's still dark :) ...

The wife is working on her sewing project, it is a quilted tree skirt 58" in diameter, she is losing her vision so she keeps making little mistakes that she has to undo. Between her heart, her vision, and her mobility I am amazed that she still pushes so hard to do project that are going to be gifts for others...
