I had a great weekend. Planted 4 Sugar maples, 4 Red Sunset Maples, 2 Metheley Plum, and a Babylonian Weeping Willow. Got everything sprayed....Hopefully the minor rain we got didn't destroy it but have plans to do it again weekend anyway. Fertilized all trees and plants. Everything is waking up beautifully.....Except me...Back to the grind at 5:30 this morning and feeling the work I did yesterday...Getting old has it's advantages and disadvantages

I have witnessed some nasty tornados but we don’t get them where we are now. Seen some horrific flooding including canoeing in the backcountry when all the bridges washed out. Been surrounded by forest fires. Experienced earthquakes. Stood in falling volcanic ash. Blizzards. Been in force 5 hurricanes. Seen avalanches up close. Walked in minefields. Been held up by knife and gun. Watched friends on fire. Been through a bus hijacking. Survived a bad parachute landing, more car crashes than I care to count. And more. No tsunamis. Witnessed murder victims and accident victims die. Lots of near misses. Frost bite on many parts of my body, sunstroke.I guess the good lord isn’t done with me yet. Toxic chemical Inhalents including cyanide. Broken numerous bones. I guess I must be a fortunate man

Ah...no need to reminded me to never go on a trip with you!

Since I'm retired just planning what to do as far as seeding the lawn, tree trimming, etc. Plenty of time. :mugbump:

Have you ever been to a meeting where people talked on and on about pretty much nothing, and at the end of the meeting you realized that the entire purpose of this formal gathering could easily been accomplished with a very short succinct email? Well that summarizes my entire afternoon. I attended a 2.5 hour meeting so that a parking and traffic committee could officially change the guidelines requiring the removal of personal cars from state owned parking lots overnight if there is "any snow" versus "1 inch of snow or more". Seriously. Probably cost the state $1,000 in wages and expenses to have this meeting to make that change. Any people wonder why big government is pointless and we are taxed so heavily.

We were catching cold rain water....LOL...till it quit....

It’s now about 2am. I woke up as usual and turned on my pc. My keyboard didn’t function/mouse was fine, rebooted – no go, tried another keyboard – no go, reboot then tried another USB port- no go. 4 reboots later, everything worked.

14th – 18th I had similar port problems, worked with Dell support. They finally had me re-load windows. I spent last week downloading purchased software and getting every thing back the way I want it.

I called Dell support about a half hour ago. Now they want me to put my tower in a box and ship it to their Texas service center so they can “fix it”… Once they receive it it’ll take 10-12 business days. I guess I’ll be using my old tower with xp.

I am so tired of this… there isn’t a hardware problem. It’s win10  "Uncle Billy" doesn't like the way I set my computer up.

I have a lot of big water oaks in my yard and they shed a lot of small limbs. I toss them on a pile all winter. I burned the big pile today. I also did laundry. The rest of my time was spent shopping on the net for a fridge...
I have a lot of big Water Oaks too...2016 and 2017 Hurricanes pushed a giant one over each year. I have enough burn wood for a generation! LOL.....

@recon we want to be careful because those that aren't retired round here will start slapping us for being so happy .
No slapping from here except on the back for being so happy and living the retirement life. Everyone I know says they won't retire...Won't know what to do with themselves? I for one will be busier than a one armed paper hanger! I have SOOOOOOOO much more to do than work for a living I can't even explain it! Life is good...Go Get IT!!!

Just got a call that my assistant has a fever. That means I better get to work now, and I'll be home at 7 tonight. Bleech. The downfalls of owning your own business. I wish I could get a retirement count going, but I don't know when that will be. Husband is going to a 4 day workweek in a couple of months, but I won't be able to. One of the years.

Some of us are counting down.:) 1yr, 7 months and 21 days...

I have two retirement options:

Early - 7 months, 26 days (ago)

Standard - 4 years, 6 months, 9 days (from now)

Extended - 10 years, 6 months, 9 days (from now)

I am not sure the extra 6 years of work is worth the increase in my monthly pension check.

Went out to the property. No wind damage. The garage/barn had a creek running through it (in a manner of speaking), so we trenched and diverted the water flow. The house is another story - significant roof damage and leaking inside. We always knew the house might not be salvageable - now the scales are tipped more in that direction./QUOTE]

Sorry this happened! I have often thought that a metal roof which can be loud during storms and a little more expensive to install, would be a better investment than shingles. Life seems to have its priorities though, and sometimes we are just going the way life takes us.

Took a hike and found a guy and his four dogs hunting rabbits on our land. That was way fun.

What did you do? How was the interaction with this guy? What was his attitude? Entitled or apologetic?
