Town run, and the yard work I didn't do yesterday after winds picked up and dust was swirling everywhere... I'll be glad when these windy days die down. Friday is still looking good for a bike ride, we'll see how it shapes up... but today, I'll be going back to the salt mines, lol. Where are all the programmable AI robots to do this drudge work? If I had more money, I'd buy one robot to do everyday chores and another to pull home rehab work... thing would be a painting fool, the Dutch Masters would have NOTHING on it, lol. Seriously, whoever invents home rehab bots will be an overnight billionaire... 😒
I'll tell you what they told me at work long long ago. Perkin Elmer started selling a "automated sample loader" for their DSC. When I asked about getting one, they told me, "we have one, it's you"

So much for valuing your employees.

I'm getting ready for my annual sheep maintenance day. Gotta trim hooves and wormer, so they'll be ready for the pasture. No shearing is necessary with dorpers. A problem is they keep losing ear tags so I'm having trouble telling them apart for record keeping. Gonna try colored zip ties on their tails?

My calf table purchase a couple of years ago was a great idea. Just a couple of simple modifications and adjusted to size and it proved to be a huge labor saver. This morning I thought I could go a step further with some kinda power tool for the hoof trimming. After 100+ hooves, A bruthas grip strength starts to fail! Watched several YouTube videos on various tools.

So I ordered a set from eBay. Cordless pruning shears. It looks like it could be the ticket for about $80? Comes with two batteries. Hopefully it's not disappointing?

Preparing for the trip, going to be nice to "future me" and get the laundry & dishes done, floors mopped and things tidied up as much as possible. It's awful getting back from an exhausting trip to a messy house so we'll see if we can't prevent that. Hoping the weather channel is wrong and the storm they say is supposed to start in the Rockies tonight and travel to the east coast Saturday, because that's right in line with my planned trip. Hopefully we can stay ahead of it. If not plan "B" is to hunker down in a hotel for a day until it passes and come up behind it once the plows have had a chance to clear things out... Right now it's the first sunny day we've had in forever and I'll take it while it lasts :)

@TeeJ Have a good trip but be careful. VA is a long drive from utah. Get into difficulty give a shout. You might be close to a member.

Rainy out so inside chores today. I have a small plastic tackle box (kids). I use it to hold tinctures for travel and my daily use. I lined it with shipping foam because about half the bottles are glass.

Today I switched the breakable glass bottles with plastic bottles. Until I ran out of plastic bottles. Called a buddy to see if he had any of the white bottles. I found out the 5-hour energy bottles are the same size as plastic tincture bottles. I have a couple somewhere in the house. (he’s placing and order next week for a range of tincture bottle sizes. I’ll piggy back my order onto his.)

Also, I haven’t printed out bottle labels since I switched from windows to linux. Took a while to figure out how to use Libre Office writer for label printing. Got 2 pages of new labels printed out, should last a while.

Lazy L, people not communicating things (like plans being canceled or having plans for something) is one of my pet peeves. My mother is really bad about it. She'll ask me if I picked up her prescriptions without having told me she had something to pick up. It is aggravating. I feel for you.

Picked up mail, popped in to the hardware store to grab a couple things, went to pick up my RX but had to tell them to put one of them back. Apparently my naproxyn is now over $200 so that was a hard pass. Apparently Singlecare and GoodRx couldn't get a discount on it. I'll have to talk to my doctor about doing one in a way that it gets covered by one of those so I can get a discount.

Brought in a case of water and the paper towels. Moved some stuff around and tossed empty boxes out. Discovered we have 3 full packs of mega roll tp that were hidden under stuff.

Cooked for mom and am cooling off bc its too hot in here.

@havasu how is your toe doing?

@Amish Heart how are your fingers?

@Tirediron good to see you back.

Housecleaning today, and talking with the solar guys. The weather is putting a serious damper on my mood — feeling bored and listless even though I could be doing more fun stuff like working with my plants.
It's been nice here, until today! One cool dreary day can ruin a mood fast!!

There you go again, Neb, promoting that ASS company, ha ha.
My finger is ok, thanks for asking Zannej. I took TMT's advice and ordered cutting gloves, should arrive any day. I change the bandage twice a day, so far have left the stripping on that holds the skin together. But the doc gave me more in case it starts to come off. The finger brace is annoying. Taking the doxy, so it'll get better. Doing things without my left hand pointer finger is a challenge. Filled a cart at Aldi, took awhile to put it away. Arguing with the medical side of the Manor regarding mom's bill and not billing insurance. I'll be going to the bank tomorrow and dropping the auto pmt until the billing is straightened out. Loaded up on 400 lbs of feed at Tractor. Unloaded it. They had their chick area set up but no chicks. The guy said they sold out in the first hour today. Wow. And at $4.50 a chick. Time to set up the incubator.

Wow that is more sheep than I want to take care of...the lady we get our ram once a year from pays the vet school to come and do her 200+ sheep once a year. It costs her $500 but she can't do it so someone has to. Be carefull with teh power tool and don't cut off too much. I cut of a little much on one and it started bleeding that happens occasionally, so I cleaned it off well put blood stopper on it, disinfected and put paper towel and duct tape on it for a day .

Did a lot more than I had planned yesterday. I caved in and sprayed nasty roundup on the daylillies I can't get rid of , they are even worse than the comfrey, and it's spreading. Way too big to dig up and under the trees. I only use that as a very last resort tried everything else
No animals in the area, so it's probably ok, no garden there either but it's spreading so much I am afraid it will take over the entire yard behind the house.

Collected 3 buckets of starter wood in the woods ,took dogs for a walk , and made Phad Thai which takes a while, since you have to cook all the stuff seperate and then mix it together ( rice noodles, veggies, onions ginger garlic, fried tofu, eggs)

Today we are going to try and move some composted manure to the garden ( shovel on Ranger, drive up the road, dump on garden, spread) , husband is going to use the scraper on the tractor to move some to the other garden right next to it.

I forgot about that, we went to RK where we usually get chicks, and they usually have like a million, there were none. You can't order them either. First come first serve if and when they get more. Wow. We really need some more chicks. We have no rooster, so incubator wouldn't help. I guess we will call every day after the next cold spell and drive there as soon as they get in, which is a problem since they are an hour away.

So I got into something and an advertisement for a bra that would change my life. I just shut it off but Hubby looked down at his chest and said “I need support but do they make them for bellies? I need my belly supported.” I said that’s called a girdle 😂
They make support bands for pregnant women, these days it would be fine for a man to wear one!😉

Stiff lower back today, perhaps from too much stooping and bending yesterday... or maybe I slept on it wrong. Gonna take it easy and hope the stiffness goes away, otherwise tomorrow's ride is canceled. Not in the woketard sense, just canceled, lol. This has not been a very good year as far as injuries go, I've been racking 'em up since New Year's Day, lol. Meh, I've reached an age where I gotta be more careful about how I do things, otherwise this stupid stuff flares up and gives me grief. Good news is that I have plenty o' beer in the fridge, and a big ol' bottle of tequila on the bar, not to mention some nuclear weed left in case the lower back doesn't settle down... no Big Pharma cr@p necessary! Cheers!

I'm keeping busy working on my rugs lately. There is a million things I'd love to get on outside but the weather is crappy.
Freezing mornings still..however mornings are up in the 20's now ..yea! It's been warning up into the 30's during the day and soon it looks it will be in the 40's.
Boy it gets muddy n slushy tho..
We keep getting snow ..inches at a time. Alot of it will melt. Like last night we got like 3 at least. Tonight it's supposed to be like a blizzard and inches of snow.
Everyday is the same at the mill I hear. As soon as they think they can call us in..something else breaks. They are expecting 12 to 20 inches of snow n up to 45 mph wind tonight..I'm praying they dont call night shift in. Travel through the canyon sounds like it will be impossible with those conditions.
I started some chicks in the incubator and I noticed my turkeys were shagging in the snow. I'm hoping I'll get turkey eggs soon!

I’m given to understand that daylilies are edible? But I haven’t tried them, and couldn’t vouch for the taste. Supposedly the tubers, shoots, and blooms are all edible.

One of those days where I didn't do much but am bone tired. Drove my Mom, an Aunt and Uncle to an ancient church in downtown Detroit for the funeral visitation of an old family friend. We were supposed to go tomorrow but changed it up due to snow in the forecast. Those are some mean and dangerous roads in good weather, didn't want to deal with them if there was some snow. I don't understand how more people aren't killed every day the way them folks act on the expressway. No blinkers, cross five lanes at 80 mph regardless of what other cars might be there....yikes.
Finally started a flat of tomatoes in the basement last weekend, hope to seed some more flats over the next few days. A little late, but they should be able to catch up when it's warm enough to move seedlings out to the greenhouse.

I think that people who drive on the same roads day after day are more used to the nuances of driving on them. I find I am never as good at driving on roads that I rarely or never drive on.

I've been working on planting some as well. I have been working on organizing seeds, and seed starting supplies. I filled some of the flats, wrote labels for some seeds and have planted well over 150 seeds. I could work on this for days. I don't know how viable my seeds are, but I have planted tomato seeds that were 6 years old and had them do fine. If I end up with a bunch of seedlings, I'll try to sell them. I know that when I have looked for certain things, there are people who do this as a side business. If I were to make a decent amount, I'll look at buying a greenhouse and do the same in future years, grow seedlings.
